- Written for the film Born Free starring Viriginia McKenna about a lion. Performed by many people including Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, and Roger Williams.
- Don wrote a new verse for Kerry.
- Usually Brian and Kerry did the song acoustically and only on one occasion have they done a full band effort.
- Became the focus of Brian and Kerry's next tour.

- Dappy is a bigger UK star and not well known in the US. He was a member of the pop/rap group N-Dubz. He first broke free with a solo track called No Regrets:


Brian saw it and during an interview someone asked him about current music and he said he really like the positivism about this track and thought it had something to say. So when asked if he would work with Dappy, Brian of course said why not? Dappy heard the interview and was mindblown and quickly went to secure Brian for a new track.

- It was released and hit #2 in the UK charts...which is unfortunate! If it had hit #1 than Brian could have continued his streak. He's been on a #1 in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00's

PERSONAL NOTES: I'm not usually too into this kind of music, but for some reason this (and No Regrets) were guilty pleasures of mine. I really grew to love them. Dappy is far too full of himself and thinks he's the man but his songs have hooks.

2012 LIVE PART I: QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT TOUR

A little background:

After playing with Adam in the AI finale in 2009, Brian always wanted to keep in touch. This led to the EMA appearance which was so well received they decided to try their hand at a full show (if not really a full tour). After having been courted by many festivals/big shows over the years, Queen decided it would make sense to finally take the leap having found a singer they were comfortable with thus Sonisphere. After Sonisphere was cancelled Queen wasn't about to let it go so they decided to go a little smaller...but do 2 dates at their old haunt, Hammersmith. After that sold so well they added a third sold out date.

They also inquired about a few other big shows and of course ended up at a dress rehearsal with Elton John in front of 350,000.

They also wrangled dates in Moscow and Poland before ending in London. This of course was quite a successful jaunt and they mentioned the idea of doing another tour at some point.

- This was the Queen set proper - LOVE the doctor's jacket and that he got to play a rockin' solo. The rest of the night was mimed. Brian refused to mime...as he usually does! The tympani was supposed to represent the 5 rings of the Olympics.

- This one was taken from their concert in Montreux. Eventually a Bluray of the whole concert was released. But this was released as a download single to aid Brian's badger advocacy.
- This is NOT the same as was on the Acoustic by Candlelight album...

PERSONAL NOTES:...but not much different either. An alright song, but not my favorite they do.

Fun On Earth

A little background

This album was a LONG time in coming. The oldest track was begun during Roger's last solo album, Electric Fire in 1998. Roger began working with Queen more again though so it was much more sporadic in recording. He did become more prolific and was a strong force behind The Cosmos Rocks and releasing his single a few years back, The Unblinking Eye.

He took his time and had no real agenda but got to work with friends and slowly bring the album along. After it was released it got a strong reception from hardcore fans but only climbed to #69 in the charts. With no tour to support it, there wasn't much hope for much better. He threatened a tour and still does mention the possibility although it is too late to help the album chartwise BUT the collection is among my favorites of the Roger material. It is a bit slower and mellower than a lot of his stuff but that also probably comes a bit with age.
Despite material being collected from 1998-2013 the album does maintain a consistent sound and has some real gems.

- Originally released (in a much rawer format) in 1998 as a download only bonus track. At the end of Electric Fire there was a brief pause before Roger sings "One Night Stand!" Then you had to go to the website and enter in the line Roger says and you got access to the bonus track.

- There was also a contest where some multi-tracks were released and fans were encouraged to create their own mix.

- In an interview (that I don't have the transcript for - it was the recent Queen Podcast), Roger states that while compiling the album and the box set he came across this track and thought it had a real contemporary groove to it, so he worked on it a bit more and it became the opening track.

- It states that it's the 1998 download version but in reality it's about 17 seconds longer with some additional instrumentation between the vocals in the first verse.

PERSONAL NOTES:

A silly track that makes for a nice opening groove. Considering the slower nature of the album it was a good track to have to offset that.

- During promotion of the album, there was mention made of Bob Geldof being on this track, either producing or on guitar, or even co-writing but he is not to be found in the credits section - so it would appear to be false information unless Bob wanted to go uncredited (which wouldn't be out of character)

PERSONAL NOTES: While I like it, it is one of the lesser tracks on the album. It feels kind of half-baked as if it was unfinished. It does segue from track 1 through to track 3, but just as you feel it's starting to get going, it ends. BUT there are some nice moments for certain.
