My $.02 on the QAL "release". I'm not entirely sure I buy it yet. Not saying it won't happen but I've seen things like this before about releases that don't pan out...so until an official announcement, don't get TOO excited.
Another thing is - it seems we are days away from the announcement for Queen product (Queen On Air - a collection of Queen's BBC recordings along with interviews and hopefully the 1973 live performance from Golders Green. WIth that coming announcement I would say it would have to be a little while at least before they announce - they (rightfully) have been keeping Queen and QAL separate.
I wouldn't be surprised if they put out a TV special in Japan but it takes awhile to get it on CD/DVD/Blu Ray. Queen actually put Hammersmith 1975 on tv back in 2009 as a 60 minute special. It wasn't released on CD/Blu Ray until 2015! SIX YEARS later. Not saying that that WILL happen. BUT just be prepared that there may be a wait....

Another reason why Paul Rodgers may have gotten less vitriol than Adam is less "exposure". It is my understanding that his collaboration with Queen was on a smaller scale. Did they ever tour arenas or stadiums? I simply don't know. Oh yes! They did 63 shows, mostly Europe & UK. Also N America. 4 in Japan. One in Aruba. Huh? LOL! But they did not sell them all out and some areas did not sell well. And, as several reviews this time around, the acceptance of Paul as "right" for Queen songs was pretty negative sometimes. I don't believe any venues or shows had some of the huge numbers like QAL have had. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%2B_Paul_Rodgers_TourMost of the European/South American gigs sold approximately the same amount. America was not quite as successful

While it has been said by a few people I just wanted to agree that there is little vitriol towards Marc because Marc isn't touring with B&R. ANYONE touring with B&R would get their fair share of vitriol. Paul Rodgers got a fair share of vitriol as well. He may have gotten less than Adam for 2 reasons. A. Paul is COMPLETELY a different singer. A non-campy, low blues and soul voice. So there was far less comparison. and B. He had a semi-legendary career of his own with 2 largely successful bands (Free & Bad Company) so it was more the meeting of contemporaries. While Adam is seen as someone with no real pedigree of success on his own- and like it or not - he's associated with American Idol which is considered the anti-artist type show. Marc is someone who sounds a lot like Freddie at times and is just singing in a tribute band that DOES play deep cuts as well.... Me? I liked Paul for the reasons I've stated. I loved Marc at QEX which can be a 2 hour show. I saw them a few times when they were in the US. I wish they'd come back now that they are doing the whole A Night At The Opera album. THAT would be awesome. In fact I wish QAL would do that but Brian is far too....comfortable (if I'm honest and I don't mean this negatively because he's far more than earned the right to do what he wants - too lazy) to work out the arrangements and practice on something like that...He's just happy slinging the old lady on and playing all the hits medleys they've been doing at this point. I've also liked Adam for what he brings that Paul couldn't. Hopefuly we'll get a leak or single release of the QAL recordings :D THAT is something I'd really want to hear even more than concert footage Sometimes I feel that Adam doesn't get the credit he deserves for what he brings to this whole QAL thing! First of all, I am so glad he is comfortable now with the whole thing. I've seen Paul too and don't think he brought anything special to the band. Made Queen just another band with a singer out front. Adams pedigree may not be long but it's brilliant! The anti-artist statement because of American Idol has nothing to do with talent. It's just the way he was able to break through. The snobs out there that dismiss an artist because of that are using it as an excuse to not accept him. It's almost like Brian and Roger did something to them personally when they decided to tour again. We are all enjoying the rebirth of Queen and the Brilliance of Adam that made it happen. I think we all know there would be no tour without Adam. Both B & R have said as much. So maybe a little more appreciation and less criticism is in order! No disrespect to you Talon. You are the biggest fan of Queen I know, next to me of course and yes I am devoted to Adam!!!! Without him we'd have nothing to talk about! Just for the record - I was answering the question as to why he gets vitriol from fans as I talk to many Queen fans of all sides of the equation...not specifically my view on it. I'm happy with Adam I think he fits better than Paul...BUT I also dug Paul's time with the band as well *shrug* I guess I just like hearing good music overall Another reason why Paul Rodgers may have gotten less vitriol than Adam is less "exposure". It is my understanding that his collaboration with Queen was on a smaller scale. Did they ever tour arenas or stadiums? I simply don't know. Less exposure as in less media in the US at least. I'd say they toured many of the same venues overall. No stadiums really (except the similar Ukraine gig and then one gig in Hyde Park) One definite that Adam brought is that he was much more current in todays media than Paul was.

I have watched the YT of the entire show. What a wonderful gift. However, I became concerned for Roger. In some shots he looks about to have heat stroke. Barely holding on. Still managed to drive the music with his drumming, but it is a wonder he didn't collapse. I would not be surprised if he vetoes any further outdoor summer festival gigs after the terrible rain earlier and now this oppressive heat. I don't think I could manage standing in the audience without passing out, and he is pounding drums for two hours. Funny you say that. I will say that Rog has always looked worse than he probably felt. In '05 my wife and I went to see him during the QPR days and again on the '14 QAL tour and she always looks at me and says "Does he always do that think with his mouth? He looks like he's either having or going to have a stroke". He has some weird furrowed brow counting of the rhythm he does that he only stops when he's singing, lol.

That is a beautiful blog about TSMGO, Q3. But it sounds like that person doesn't know Brian wrote it. Do you think? But Brian wrote it for Freddie! indeed and it was also at least partially written *WITH* Freddie.... Brian did write the majority - but after Freddie and he started it lyrically and thematically.

Unpopular opinion here but they can leave that song out of the setlist any damn time they please lol. I find it so plodding. Even Adam sounds bored with it by the way he mixes it up and sings off tempo. He's prob not but I like to imagine he is Is in my top 5 of all time favorite Queen songs and coming from me that is something. Such a powerful tune. Made more so given the circumstances....Freddie, barely able to stand, delivering it in one take. I know it's opinion but I find it hard to imagine!

Glad to see a more full set list again - was there a bass solo today before the drum battle?
Sad to see no Play The Game or Save Me. Nice to see a return of Keep Yourself Alive. And it was a different opening which was cool....
Catching up on what I can find of course.
Only negative is nothing new or new for them. I always hope for at least ONE new song (to them)

Thank you Talon for your observations. I'll keep hoping for a live DVD of some kind, although I suppose by the time it happens we might all be a lot older than we already are, ha ha! Anytime
