Thanks, queenofthenight. BTW I love your posts. Aww, TY and back atcha! I agree about the "more gold!" I have often wonder why Q+PR did not tour with a female lead vocalist to sing a few songs like STL. If they got someone who could handle funky-dance music, they could have also had her sing AOBTD. AOBTD is Queen's top selling single and a #1 song. It would be really difficult for them to tour without doing it since STL is their other big #1 song and that was just not possible. With Brian, Roger and Paul on stage, Paul is the best one to sing AOBTD but not his finest moment. You are so right about WWTLF but, of course, it was really a minor Queen song until Q+AL (Queen performed it only 26 times-- 25 with Freddie in 1986, once with Seal in 1992). Certainly not a song people were begging to hear Queen perform. ** I actually feel really a bit bad for Paul Rodgers. He really is an excellent rock vocalist, just not right for Queen. I know that AOBTD is the single best-selling Queen song in the US, and thus it would be impossible to leave off the set list. BUT (and correct me if I'm wrong) couldn't they have left it off in the rest of the world? I was under the impression that it was not one of the more significant Queen songs in Europe, South America, the UK, etc. Again, I might be wrong; I wasn't around at that time As for why they didn't bring on a female (or anyone else, for that matter) to cover what Paul couldn't...probably nothing "organic" and "natural" was happening with any other singer at the time, as Brian would say. Plus, there's the fact that they already had a lot of material to fit into a show - the Queen stuff, the Paul stuff, the Brain and Roger stuff...if they were to get another person, she'd probably want time to perform some solo stuff as well, given that Paul was performing solo stuff. It's an interesting thought though...I've always thought the best non-Adam STL covers were done by women! And George Michael...but let's not go there. Maybe because AOBTD is one of Adam's favorite Queen songs.

Maybe because AOBTD is one of Adam's favorite Queen songs. Adam has consistently said it is his favorite Queen song but Queen played it consistently in concert from 1980 through 1986 -- all over the world. So they had it on the setlist even before Adam was born. It is a great song. One of their many, many great songs, but truly a Queen essential.

Thanks for the perspective, Q3! I always love the history lessons your posts bring. Yeah, DancyGeorgia, AOBTD is Adam's fav Queen song (along with Dragon Attack)...but I wasn't referring to Adam in my post! I was just wondering why QPR performed it all over the world when it was so clearly a mismatch for PR.

I found the sales number for AOBTD -- over 8 million copies sold -- about 3.5 million of that is from North America.

little flickers vecadamLOVE pic.twitter.com/2p2SA0KvGl This is a great adaptation of the pic above, but I can't get it to post... Help? If you want to post the tweet: Copy the url at the top of the page. It's the yellow line. Paste it in the reply box and it will auto post the tweet. If you want to post only the photo: Right click on the photo and choose Open image in a new tab. That should take you to a new tab with only the photo. Copy the url at the top of the page. It's marked in yellow. Paste this line in the reply box: pbs.twimg.com/media/B-LL_1fCEAIU96q.pngHighlight the whole line: At the top of the reply box is a line of symbols. Tap the little button that looks like photo in a frame . That will put the IMG code on the photo link and the photo should appear.

OK, so this is not completely off topic, I mean: it's not Adam news, but it is related to a couple of conversations that got started on this thread -- there was a conversation about singer collaborators and matching voices; and then a conversation about what songs are hits where... I was just listening to a podcast and the special guest was Anastacia. I hadn't realised it before, but she's apparently not that known in the US. Now, I discovered her way back in 2004 when she had her big hits (well, they were big in Europe) I'm Outta Love and Left Outside Alone (I still love those songs!), and I thought she was American but with a very European appeal, so it was interesting to me to hear her now talk about how her career for some reason didn't take off in the US but she got big in Europe, even though she's American -- and how she was always a very specific artist, they just couldn't put her in any box. She even invented her own "genre", called SPRock LOL (Soul Pop Rock), because that didn't really exist before her, so she had to invent it. She has such a big voice, very distinctive, and I get how difficult it is to put her in any box (sound familiar?). She's got a new album out, I just learned, though it was in 2014, called Resurrection, for anyone who's interested there are some videos from that album on her youtube channel. I checked it out, and she's changed a bit over the years of course, but she's still beautiful and giving me that strong woman energy that I always liked about her. Anyway, to bring it to Adam-related topics: I think she's a singer who could hold her own in a duet with Adam, and that would be such an interesting mix, vocally speaking, because they have very different voices, but I feel like they would match well together. Here's I'm Outta Love, for those who have no idea who I'm talking about (I don't know why, I just always assumed she was known in the US, but it turns out not all her albums were even released in the US....weird...): www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnOy6HEf7HUAnd here's a duet with an Italian singer (this is recent): www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbYCAXYouM4

With regards to QPR. I got to see them in concert and it was also a hell of a show if I'm honest. PR of course is more suited to his own material. AND yes there were some not so great choices of Queen songs...BUT I think they stayed away from the ones he had no chance of doing well.
Queen songs I think he really shined on: I Want To Break Free, The Show Must Go On, I Want It All, TYMD, Crazy Little Thing....
