I think ppl take what Adam does and says way too seriously. I mean Brian May was nominated. And Adam was presenting lol. Duh. What did you expect him to say. Probably shouldent of said it. But I don't think.their was any harm meant. I laughed. Maybe I was the only one. You weren't. I had to smile as well. And found it cute actually. I think Adam probably thought he had no choice but to make it clear he knew what was in the envelope because otherwise how would he get to say what he wanted to say about Brian? Normally the person presenting the award opens the envelope, says "and the winner is.......", the winner takes the stage and the award is handed over with the obligatory hug. There's not an opportunity for the presenter to make a short speech and obviously Adam was determined to do so and this was the only way he could create an opportunity for himself - by admitting he knew whose name was in the envelope. And my take on the look Mel B gave to Duncan James (the guy reading out the nominations) was that it was one of those "ooh look what a big important word he used" look (this is the sort of thing uneducated Brits sometimes do) after he said "empathetic". I feel that there was too much of a time lag from his saying that he knew what was in the envelope to the look she gave for it to have been about that. But, of course, each of us will have our own unique take on it as we do about everything, be it Adam or any subject under the sun. Vive la difference!

Have to agree, AAA!
One look at the nominees and the presenter was enough to tell anyone who had won - can't imagine anyone would think anything else when Brian May (and Adam Lambert) turned up to a relatively low-key 'do'.
And my immediate take on it was that Adam wanted to say something and he took his only chance!
As for spoiling any future invitations to present - unless he were doing another 'niche' (QAL) presentation, he probably wouldn't know the winner anyway and the organisers would know that.

I doubt it. Those are the lyrics to the song New Dark Ages which is what was posted. Roger doesn't actually tweet himself - it's his PR team and they often just link videos to older songs. New Dark Ages is a 1991 song by The Cross (although rumored to have been demoed by Queen for the Innuendo album but rejected by John...quite emphatically) - a song about the AIDS crisis. Great song and if you listen carefully to Roger's humming in the beginning, it is close to Days of Our Lives -- BUT long story short I doubt the tweet has anything to do with anything...just part of the song :D Thanks Talon! I knew it was not a Queen song but part of the song New Dark Ages, I was just theorizing that they were going to sing a Roger song with Welcome lyrics, an Adam song with Welcome lyrics, and maybe if there was a Brian song with those lyrics, that too. I was in a hurry so not clear. I didn't actually know about Roger's PR team but the timing was interesting. Off to read the thread and the Boston Globe article. Gotta say, The Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" kept running through my head regarding the article. Off the top of my head - no Brian lyrics with it though I just woke up That would be a great surprise as they've never done a Roger solo song at a full Queen gig! Two almost a though: Say It's Not True became a solo song later but was a more Queen version first Second - Strange Frontier was performed by B&R at a Spike Edney led Freddie tribute 10 years after Freddie's passing

As soon as they announced that Adam would be at the award, and Brian was a nominee.. well no surprise .. Of course others probably don't
keep up with all the Adam/Brian news..
The only wince I had was when Adam said shit.. before he toused the envelope a bit..The rest ,IMHO was fine.. I guess Adam didn't want to
play the game, whose name will be getting the LGBTQ for best srtaight supporter.
If only our guy could please everybody with his hair, his speech ,his affect.

Simply open the envelope, smile a sweet awe! smile and say, This makes me so happy, I know this man personally- say his little spill and then announce Brian. Done and done all while playing the we don't know the winner game.
