Boy! I'm really liking this "winq" magazine! Thick, full of interesting articles, advertisements, places I'd love to visit! Think I'd like to make a 'Belvedere Spritz' and read about Adam for awhile. (recipe on page 30!) Article is entitled "Adam Lambert Long May He Reign" I just have to quote this passage . . . "Now, we're getting into this beautiful time, slowly but surely . . . The young generation coming up right now are able to experiment and feel comfortable with fluidity and blending together, and I think that's gorgeous. And I think that's the thing that I've always been attracted to." He is speaking with a voice of a different freedom. One that opens my eyes and brings my senses into focus and makes me realize how restrained my life has been. Adam opens the windows, throws aside the curtains and the screens, and lets the fresh air of ideas and understanding blow away the cloudiness in my mind. "He restores my soul". I haven't needed him to be a touchstone for me to 'come out'. I've always been, and always will be, the very middle-aged, hetero woman of mainstream non-distinction. But, something in Adam inspired me to come into myself. Be expressive. Own it. Admit it. Whatever it might be. I heard Adam's voice and I woke up - my wonderful life became a more wonderful life - of color and courage and adventure and challenges accepted. I wear new shoes. They travel; they walk dark streets and are not afraid. They dance. Sometimes they stumble, but they are sturdy and take me around corners, up mountains, through ambitious terrain. Words to describe how Adam Lambert has changed my outlook on life; my day to day experience; sit in the stewpot of my brain. Still cooking. Right now I can only describe the first course of this journey. It will take me through the rest of my life. So thoughtful and wonderfully stated! Your beautiful words are always so inspiring!

I'd bet my house that if he could choose between queen and a top 10 hit, he'd dump queen in a heartbeat I would bet everything I own that he fuckin loves the diversity of his career! And would be bored silly doing one thing! (I actually think he has said this more than once) Agreed, Patti. Adam will always have his fingers in many pies.... No, @grandduchesspf, not those kinds of pies..

The choice in oracle 's post is a false choice, but setting aside Queen, Adam has demonstrated many times that he is not interested in commercial success above artistic freedom or working with people he enjoys working with. IMO Adam wants to be influential, to matter and make an impact, and to be memorable. That goes far beyond wanting a Top 10 hit. > I also think that if Adam had to make a choice like the one proposed, he would not "dump Queen." He is now part of the Queen family -- a place he earned. Adam is also smart enough to realize that you can't chase hits -- you work really hard and so do many other musicians, and if everything lines up, you have a megahit. He talked about timing a number of times. A #1 it song does not ensure lasting fame or success. Here are a few artists who had #1 hits about 3 years ago. In 2014 Magic! had the #1 song for 6 weeks in the US, plus topped the charts in 7 other countries -- can anyone even name the song without using Google or Wiki? Meghan Trainor had a massive #1 hit -- plus 3 more top 10 hits -- and she is on tour in theaters-amphitheaters and state fairs. Robin Thicke had a huge, global #1 hit -- which enabled him to move from being an opening act to a headline tour in 2014. He hasn't been able to replicate his success since. Pharrell Williams co-wrote and produced "Get Lucky" and "Blurred Lines", then he followed that up with a huge, global #1 hit in 2013-2014, "Happy" -- that enabled him to headline a European tour in 2014, his first tour since 2006. He played a ton of US Holiday Radio concerts and festivals. He is back on tour in Europe this year. He was unable to replicate this success of "Happy." ** On the other hand, there are artists who build sustained careers, tour arenas without having hit singles. A few examples: Vampire Weekend, Joni Michell and Arcade Fire. And for a real shock, check out this list of 10 Legendary Artists That Never Had a Number One Hit: www.toptenz.net/10-legendary-artists-that-never-had-a-number-one-hit.phpIMO the importance of hits is often overstated in thinking about the artists who had influential careers. This list is a great eye opener analogous to the list of those artists that never won a Grammy Neither are all that they are cracked up to be. Authenticity and integrity of the artistic vision is what this is ultimately all about and being damn sexy ain't all bad either Wow, very interesting that I don't know any of the people with No. 1 hits, except Pharrell! Very telling! And all those bands mentioned in that article were hugely influential. Enlightening post, Q3..

I think it's really hard to compare. I saw Adam with Queen live (five times) and I saw him this year at three concerts of his own tour as well. As regards me - I enjoyed every single of all the concerts very very much. And I can see how Adam is more and more relaxed every time he performs with Queen, IMO. As Nic42 said - it's sort of less responsibility for him than his own concerts. Still I could see Adam being very happy with his band and dancers, joking and having a great fun with them and his fans. These Adam's own concerts made me personally more happy than QAL concerts - because it was about Adam, his music, his fans. It was about things Adam wants to do. And TOH was a successful album as well as TOHT. I can't/don't want to say if he is more happy with Queen or his own tour. The truth is - I see him happy. This is what matter to me. I think while Adam has already been "established" as the new frontman for Queen, he had way more to prove for his own solo tour. He needed to get that one right after many years of absence as a solo artist. I'm happy for him that TOH tour was a success and that he was able to relax a bit more toward the end. After the concert in Munich I felt like "wow, life is good for Adam" Was lovely to meet you there shimoli710!

Hi sizzling63 The concert in Munich will be forever one of the best experiences of my life. Not only for the awesome concert (Adam looked so happy and relaxed), but for meeting you and other Atopers and Adam fans there. It was such a wonderful surprise to find out who you are. And you was so nice and kind - it made the great concert even better.
