The choice in oracle 's post is a false choice, but setting aside Queen, Adam has demonstrated many times that he is not interested in commercial success above artistic freedom or working with people he enjoys working with. IMO Adam wants to be influential, to matter and make an impact, and to be memorable. That goes far beyond wanting a Top 10 hit. > I also think that if Adam had to make a choice like the one proposed, he would not "dump Queen." He is now part of the Queen family -- a place he earned. Adam is also smart enough to realize that you can't chase hits -- you work really hard and so do many other musicians, and if everything lines up, you have a megahit. He talked about timing a number of times. A #1 it song does not ensure lasting fame or success. Here are a few artists who had #1 hits about 3 years ago. In 2014 Magic! had the #1 song for 6 weeks in the US, plus topped the charts in 7 other countries -- can anyone even name the song without using Google or Wiki? Meghan Trainor had a massive #1 hit -- plus 3 more top 10 hits -- and she is on tour in theaters-amphitheaters and state fairs. Robin Thicke had a huge, global #1 hit -- which enabled him to move from being an opening act to a headline tour in 2014. He hasn't been able to replicate his success since. Pharrell Williams co-wrote and produced "Get Lucky" and "Blurred Lines", then he followed that up with a huge, global #1 hit in 2013-2014, "Happy" -- that enabled him to headline a European tour in 2014, his first tour since 2006. He played a ton of US Holiday Radio concerts and festivals. He is back on tour in Europe this year. He was unable to replicate this success of "Happy." ** On the other hand, there are artists who build sustained careers, tour arenas without having hit singles. A few examples: Vampire Weekend, Joni Michell and Arcade Fire. And for a real shock, check out this list of 10 Legendary Artists That Never Had a Number One Hit: www.toptenz.net/10-legendary-artists-that-never-had-a-number-one-hit.phpIMO the importance of hits is often overstated in thinking about the artists who had influential careers. This list is a great eye opener analogous to the list of those artists that never won a Grammy Neither are all that they are cracked up to be. Authenticity and integrity of the artistic vision is what this is ultimately all about and being damn sexy ain't all bad either Well said

Boy! I'm really liking this "winq" magazine! Thick, full of interesting articles, advertisements, places I'd love to visit! Think I'd like to make a 'Belvedere Spritz' and read about Adam for awhile. (recipe on page 30!) Article is entitled "Adam Lambert Long May He Reign" I just have to quote this passage . . . "Now, we're getting into this beautiful time, slowly but surely . . . The young generation coming up right now are able to experiment and feel comfortable with fluidity and blending together, and I think that's gorgeous. And I think that's the thing that I've always been attracted to." He is speaking with a voice of a different freedom. One that opens my eyes and brings my senses into focus and makes me realize how restrained my life has been. Adam opens the windows, throws aside the curtains and the screens, and lets the fresh air of ideas and understanding blow away the cloudiness in my mind. "He restores my soul". I haven't needed him to be a touchstone for me to 'come out'. I've always been, and always will be, the very middle-aged, hetero woman of mainstream non-distinction. But, something in Adam inspired me to come into myself. Be expressive. Own it. Admit it. Whatever it might be. I heard Adam's voice and I woke up - my wonderful life became a more wonderful life - of color and courage and adventure and challenges accepted. I wear new shoes. They travel; they walk dark streets and are not afraid. They dance. Sometimes they stumble, but they are sturdy and take me around corners, up mountains, through ambitious terrain. Words to describe how Adam Lambert has changed my outlook on life; my day to day experience; sit in the stewpot of my brain. Still cooking. Right now I can only describe the first course of this journey. It will take me through the rest of my life. OK, momtomany -- you've got me crying, which is why i just had to respond, even though i'm a day late (and, yeah, probably a dollar short, too). we all know how adam talks about music bringing all kinds of people together at his concerts, and truly, that is incredibly important. and we know that many of his fans have come out of the closet because of the things he talks about and because of the example that he projects. and then there's the life changes in the rest of us fans. of course, adam is so humble that maybe these stories don't impact him much, but i don't see how that's possible. when i read these stories, they stop me dead in my tracks. your story is one of those. and i guess because i love him so much, i find it overwhelming that my guy, and not just his music, has changed people. i wonder how that makes him feel. if your story makes me cry, how does it affect him? and who knew that just wanting to sing could affect so many people. to me he looks and acts the same as he always has, but he's got to be walking on clouds. it's all so remarkable. he's so remarkable. i just want to sing -- and he ends up on television, performing for millions of people i just want to sing -- and people find the strength to come out of the closet i just want to sing -- and people are thrilled (and pay money!) to listen i just want to sing -- and people love him so much that they'll even get soaked in the rain for a chance to see him live i just want to sing -- and many of those listeners experience the best night of their lives i just want to sing -- and then he magically changes peoples lives i never knew musicians had so much power, but now that i've experienced adam, i realize they do. it's magic, absolute magic and i'm stunned and thrilled to be part of his extraordinary journey. i'll throw in one more comment: i'm disabled and unable to get to any of his concerts. but i watch all the videos and read all the recaps, so i feel very connected to adam because these tools are available to me (thank you, God). but it's the magical messages such as yours that reach that deep place inside me. whew!
