Watching Closer To You for the umpteenth time and wanted to point out Adam at 2:12 looking upward when he sings "why the stars just won't align", feeling and acting out the song. Literal Adam is literal

My opinion on how Adam should move forward, in case he cares to increase his fandom/audiences ... Adam should sing "Closer To You" the next couple times he gets the chance to perform on TV again, and I would advise him to drop the tacky outfits and accessories and just sing. It could be another "Mad World" or "Believe" moment. Strong statement, I know, but I am actually tempted to tell Adam the same thing, in case he cared to listen to fan feedback. He connects best when the focus is on his singing. (I realize that Adam can do whatever he wants, but I can't shake the feeling that those "numbers" aren't unimportant to him. SP is a real fun song, just like all the other gems on Velvet, however I believe that Adam would connect much better with CTY in a live TV performance. Play at your strength, Adam, and come back with a fresh look!) I agree with a lot of what you said. But without a major behind him he is not going to get those big numbers again. Without a lot of radio play, he won't get them no matter how good the material. I love CTY but SP is now on the radio and he will likely try to push it. SP doing well will probably determine if CTY gets a chance. But if I never see another dancer in a video, club scene or around Adam (I love his organic dance moves tho) I will be fine, lol. CTY is the type of song that would connect and I agree his "Believe" but he seems to think his fans just want to dance. With that voice, I think he sells emotion and beauty so much better and it could reach more fans. I hope he "gets it". I actually left a couple of very honest and heartfelt comments on his IG, once I watched his live session of CTY. I was almost in shock how good it was and how it made me feel. Quite honestly, SP on Kelly and Ryan didn't have that much of an impact and not so sure if it was only the disastrous mic situation to blame. I am sure Adam wasn't oblivious to it. I could be completely wrong, but the "silence" that followed, partially due to him likely not feeling well, may have been a much needed re-grouping phase for him. Adam may be stubborn but he isn't stupid. I am really hoping for upcoming TV performances to highlight what Adam is best at, which to me is singing, and I can't be that much off when looking at the appearances that have gotten him most recognition. I know the independent label makes a few things harder, but if Adam has a real moment on TV again with a song that he can call his own, I think it can happen. We can't claim that Adam hasn't gotten exposure and opportunities, if you look at Idol, Ellen, GMA, Kelly and Ryan, etc. after he had wowed with "Believe" and the Oscars, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that he better be smart if he gets those missed TV promo slots back.

I think both SP and CTY could get attention through different platforms.

Imo pushing CTY would look like another attempt to chase WWFM success - and we had more than enough of that with BTIKM and ALN. I can guarantee that once the Live Sessions’ versión of other songs will come out we are going to drool over their perfection as well, including SP.
on another subject: i’ve Been streaming and listening to all V songs on SoundCloud. Interestingly enough the count displayed under each song never moved. this is what I see on my phone SoundCloud app since I started streaming: SYA -2906 CTY - 2694 OG- 1094 LB -1267 RTR - 1054 SP -7748
what do you see? I am trying to understand why the count is not updated, is it my phone?
eta: I checked SoundCloud on IPad and the numbers are all different, for instance SP says 17k..

WWFM is 2x platinum in the US and his only top 10 hit is the states. IIHY and GT gold in the US. SP is on the radio now but what should he push after that? It might not be a bad idea to switch things up with the next release, if SP does well. If it doesn't, he may not get another chance anyway. But he has never released a beautiful ballad to radio so I would love to see him give it a try. It couldn't hurt, imo. It certainly has done well and gave him lots of attention when he sang someone else's ballad on tv. Why not one of his own for a change? CTY is a beautiful song so I would not view it as chasing anything. Instead it would be releasing a really great song that might connect. There are not many out there with his talent so no comparison to others for me. But he has diverse music so changing it up may not be a bad thing for him.

My two cents is Adam Lambert is a genre all on its own. In 2009 at the AMAs. He could of find a ballad and that’s that. But he would of just been another David Cooke, with all respect to David. The risks he took that night made him an international star. The way he blends genres makes his artistry. So I do understand Adam connects better with emotive songs. I just personally don’t think the genre has anything to do with not charting better. Of course GT went triple platinum in Rome countries. And it’s Deep House.

Closer to you we’ll prob be the next radio single. Signs are obvious. Great choice too. Very bluesey and soulful. Reminds me a bit of Eltons Rocketman with an emotive touch. Adam showed with GT. He can generate big numbers. I think it’s the music. Well, he's not going to get a second single to radio if SP does nothing. It just went for adds two week ago!!!

Very subjective opinion here, but how can you possibly compare BTIKM and ALN to "Closer To You"?? Shakes head. And what's wrong with chasing the success that he had with a single about 10 years ago? Btw. I did not even think of WWFM when I heard CTY.
