Sizzling63 and Lurleene, I completely agree. I believe if Adam had sung Closer To You on TV, it would have made a bigger impact than SP. He just delivers power ballads like nobody else. And he blows everyone away each and everytime he sings a ballad. In a ballad, there is nowhere to hide so his talent shines even brighter. I do understand why he picked SP as the single though vs Closer To You. SP is shorter, more fun and makes a statement. Love the video as well, thought it was perfect. I think it is a great radio song. Closer To You would be great as well, my only concern is that it might be a bit too long for radio. Would be the perfect second single. Was not too impressed with SP on Kelly & Ryan though. Thought it did not translate that well live. Maybe it is because Adam still did not feel well? Or because of the mike issue? I thought the same with Ghost Town live. Always thought the live performances of it, especially during promo was kind of awkward even though it was a great radio song. I think Adam might need a bit of choreography for SP. And Closer To You would be perfect live on TV. That CTY live session is just heavenly. Have been watching it on repeat! Adam is so into his performance, heart and soul. Such a timeless song with a universal theme that will appeal to anyone, reminds me of Aerosmith. I love listening to SP and I too think the mv is great, but the Kelly and Ryan performance didn't do much for me. While I am confident that Adam has the ability to improve it, I was just gob smacked today with his live session of CTY. I think it gave me the Adam that I fell in love with, which is effortless beauty. All of "Velvet" is fantastic, but I think some songs may feel better recorded, while others are better live. My favorite Ghost Town live was actually the rock version with Queen haha.

Imo, Adam has never released or performed a beautiful ballad of his own on tv. Midtempo and uptempo yes. I don't think all of his fans like the same thing. Changing things up is good and keeps all fans interested. SP is uptempo so a beautiful ballad could get a chance if SP does well. I would love to see him do a song to really showoff that voice that everyone raves about when he is singing someone else's song. Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear them say that about his own work? I love him rocking out on stage with Queen but I love when he sings a ballad as well. Not into disco so much as it never highlights his beautiful voice. Would love to see him play to his biggest strength. I don't think he will release a rock song (which I would love too) so I'm hoping for a great ballad. CTY for the win, lol. According to its wiki, "Welcome to the Show" was a power ballad. I hated that song.

Haha lol different strokes for different Folks!!!
Not sure i think loverboy would be a good single because it's quite specific lyricaly. But again exactly that could be it's strength. I happen to Love Welcome to the show, the lyrics are beautifuly vounerable.
I guess the only way to settle this is to have Adam spend a whole week on Corden like Harry or Shawn looool
Love n light

It was used for a NHL sports show so not my idea of a beautiful emotional ballad and obviously not theirs either. But I guess we all have different standards and wants. I would still love to see Adam release a beautiful ballad to radio and perform it on tv And not with some girl with a voice that I don't really care for and that includes Alisan and the young lady on WTTS, lol. CTY is beautiful and in a class of its own. I would at least like to see it get a chance if SP does well.

Well... they are kinda the same type of “I am unhappy and in need of [insert the respective song’s subject]” type songs, mid tempo, soul searching, a bit depressive ...Feel Something belongs there as well of course... similar musical arc - starts quiet and low, goes up up up to a highly emotional apex and comes down from there... “how can you possibly compare BTIKM and ALN to "Closer To You"??” - I agree with the emotional side here - I happen to hate WWFM to the point that i’ve Deleted it from all my devices years ago, BTIKM as well, ALN is still there, but I would never listen to it... CTY I adore! But still, I think the history of Adam’s single choices is so tainted by the labels’ Desire to repeat the WWFM formula that I’d rather see any other type of a single... SP is perfect IMO! not sure I am making sense... I hope my strong reaction to your previous opinion didn't feel like an attack - I didn't really like BTIKM and ALN, so putting those songs in the same category with "Closer To You" was a bit startling for me, in fact even WWFM isn't matching up for me. Turns out though that we have the same musical tastes haha, and I see your point why you consider SP as a much better single choice. I totally love that song too, don't get me wrong, but I still think that CTY could create more of a "moment" when performed live to a large audience. I am crossing my fingers for both. Oh no, not at all! I totally understand your reaction and I always appreciate a chance for a discussion that goes a bit beyond blind adoration.

I see a lot of peeps wanting to see Adam with a ballad, showing off his voice and emotions on TV. The Kennedy Center Believe is brought as an example. The thing is this Performance appeals to the “wrong” demo - the demo that aside from knowing who Cher is cares about ability to sing and appreciates good voice and delivery - and that’s not the mass market demo...
To clarify I am not really arguing against a ballad single, I am just saying it’s not going to change anything, I.e. radio will still not play it, kids will still not be interested, it’s not about the voice (took me years to understand and accept this fact) - that’s my unfortunate state of mind ...

In the radio is not dead article posted the other day it shows that Women are the #1 demo for HAC which is what Adam has always done his best in and which SP is listed for radio adds. In the other demos, if it shows at all, HAC listeners maxes out around 8% of that demographic group. They could radio edit CTY shorter. But what did reach a different demographic was Runnin' and a lot of that was due to "anime". If you go to YouTube and search by the name of one of Adam's songs such as WWFM or GT and filter/sort it for view counts, you'll find that Adam's own videos or maybe lyric videos are at the top of the viewing list. But if you look for Runnin you'll find all these anime videos with multi-millions of views way ahead of his own versions. (they all credit him so I'm assumin he's getting money from youtube). So back to CTY - To me it was made for anime. If I was doing remixes I'd be trying to find anime youtubers who would put something together.

I was responding to the "Adam has never released or performed a beautiful ballad of his own on tv". If WTTS is a ballad, he did perform that on TV but it certainly wasn't beautiful IMO, so I guess you're still right. There are tons of artists who have huge hits with ballads. I don't see any reason why Adam shouldn't unless they simply don't play it on the radio. Speaking of ballads, I have only heard "You Are The Reason" for the first time on AGT, and the song is a couple of years old. Looking up its stats, the song never made BB Hot 100, or chart high on any BB chart or any other major music market chart but had multiple gold/platinum certifications world-wide and over a billion streams. How does this happen? Due to chart position, I don't think it got a lot of radio play. Would love it if Adam could get one of these type of hits with a ballad. And the artist and his duet partner were both from a reality show.
