I LOVE LOVE LOVE Robbie Williams. He is a perfect entertainer and I also love his sense of humour His voice is very good but not anywhere near Adam's. But if it comes to commanding an audience with charm and wit he does come close.

I have a small collection of Robbies hits...I like him a lot. I LOVE Adam but I really like lots of music! That's great! I love all kinds of music myself. I just don't get his appeal, I've watched some of his videos. But I also don't get the appeal of Paul McCartney and Andrea Boccelli...doesn't mean they're not talented. That's why there are about a million different music genres...a genre for everybody's taste buds. Did you watch videos of the live performances or the music videos? I think Robbie‘s appeal are his live performances, because he’s the absolute entertainer. At least for many. (Personally, I called him a „clown“ back in the day. ) Here are 3 videos of his biggest hits for those of you, who don’t really know Robbie. I have the impression, that most US folks don’t know a lot about him. Maybe these videos also show, why he didn’t need Queen. youtu.be/4cqUvLvVYFEyoutu.be/XAwTtXkHXioyoutu.be/1XtQnkmPwIQEdit: Sorry, I had to add a third video (in the middle). It shows more of Robbie‘s stage persona.

I have never watch his videos so I can't really comment on his talent. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think he was ever a big name artist here in America.

Now I would „only“ call him a superstar. But still in the same league as QAL.

I never heard of Robbie either till Adam said something about him. I don't think he was big in the US.

LOL I had never heard of Robbie Williams before Adam...let alone heard his music or seen him perform. IDT he was ever very big in the US.....surely I would have a least heard of him. Anyway......carry on discussing him if you like....LOL

Side note - he's also doing a Vegas residency at the Wynn in very near future.
I love his songs "Angels" and "She's the one". Also, heard him sing "My Way" once and thought it was really good.

I'm pretty sure Take That (like many other UK boy groups) weren't particularly successful in the US. So it isn't surprising to me that Robbie never made it big there as a solo artist, either. Didn't we talk about how Carrie Underwood isn't really all that famous in Europe, fairly recently? Just because you are a super/mega/whatever star in some place doesn't guarantee success elsewhere. Stardom is sometimes a matter of perspective. And isn't it great that Adam is such a star pretty much all around the world (as far as I know)?

Did you guys in the US knew the boygroup „Take That“? That’s where Robbie started. They were THE band, when I was in school. First in was „New Kids on the Block“, later „The Backstreet Boys“ and „Take That“. When Robbie left the group in order to start a solo career some of my classmates went mad. I remember that there had been emergency calls, because girls threatened to do suicide.

I only know Carrie through Adam. I cannot even name one song by her, nor do I know, if I‘ve ever heard one. Probably yes, but she’s pretty unknown in Germany.
