I donāt think there is one single adult person in Europe or Australia, who hasnāt heard about Take That at all. By the way: I got curious, where Robbie has been touring in the past. Itās mainly Europe and Australia/NZ. And a bit of South and Middle America and South Africa every couple of years as well. The US had only a couple of concerts. Your loss, I would say. Edit: Robbie is going to do 2 Vegas residencies this year, each about 2 weeks long. And he has done that before.

This conversation has started me musing. Here we are talking to people all over the world in real time like it was an ordinary occurrence. I honestly have to remind myself of this often. My eldest child was born in 1990 and has never known life without the internet.
6 August 1991 - The day the internet first went public 4 September 1998 - The day Google went online
Broadband internet was not common until well into the 2000s which made music sharing worldwide much easier. As far as music goes, it was only shared with physical copies and radio until:
1 June 1999 - The day Napster started 14 February 2005 - The day Youtube started
Before 1991, music was almost completely regional. Despite being a US citizen, I spent my prime teenage music years in Europe and totally missed the Beach Boys. You can imagine the WTF looks I got when I went to college, lol.

I really never knew about Robbie Williams until I saw Adam interact with him. I have never watch his videos so I can't really comment on his talent. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think he was ever a big name artist here in America. Thatās almost unbelievable from my European point of view. Robbie is a mega star. Or was. Now I would āonlyā call him a superstar. But still in the same league as QAL. Iāve never heard his name before Adam as well... never heard any of the posted songs... but with me this is the case with the vast majority of pop singers, including American ones...so I guess this post not adding anything to the convo...lol...still posting...

I am so confused about Robbie's appeal. I'm with you. I had heard his name but know little about his work. And even after I started hearing more about him when he praised Adam, I was not interested enough to look up his work or view his videos. He may have been a hit fronting Queen in the UK or Europe but I don't think it would have worked worldwide. Queen would have been a much bigger name and it would have been hard to replace Freddie back then. Not dismissing his success or his appeal to some. But he would not have made me want to pay to see Queen. Maybe Brian and Roger wanted him for some limited run. It he was that big worldwide, I don't think they would have expected him to give it up to front Queen on a permanent basis. But bringing up Queen sure gets a lot of press, lol.

Cassie, please relay to Angelina that I love her videos about Adam. Iād like to add one other thing about Adam as. True professionalāone doesnāt have to clench oneās body anticipating a mistake. (or stated positively can truly relax) during Adamās performances because you trust he will do an impeccable job. For me, that allows a genuine joy with his performances.. Thanks.

I've been a long time music video watcher. The only Robbie Williams video I remember is the DJ Rock video where he ends up stripping right down to his skeleton. Another star who couldn't get traction in US/Canada is Kylie Minogue. Once again I only remember one video, "All the Lovers," where she ends up on top of pile of very beautiful people in their underwear.
