I'm in my 50's and find lots of my new music on social media of various sorts and have streaming music/radio in the car (my car is 6 months old and no CD player! I have a flash drive but usually hook up my cell phone with or use bluetooth). I like Spotify and am just re-upping my subscription to Sirius XM. The music industry is in a state of continual change, and I think much of that change is good for artists like Adam who like to be "fresh" and relevant.
I just read the article posted by Ryan Tedder of One Republic, and I think he and Adam share a similar outlook regarding music. Waiting for an album to drop seems pretty alien to how media works today (for both good and ill).
I am getting SO EXCITED for my concert tomorrow -- and I am so glad I-5 won't be a mess, especially as I talked my sister into driving and not taking the train from Portland (which is lovely but will cost much more--and I have new wheels that need a road trip!).
See some of you in Seattle I hope! We are doing the VIP thing for this concert, and we are staying close by the arena so maybe we can meet up after the concert somewhere. Anyone looking for reasonable eats close to the arena might want to go to the Food Court at Seattle Center because it has been recently remodeled and is quite nice now. The arena is at the west end of Seattle Center. Also, the lower Queen Anne area is just blocks away and there are lots of restaurants, bars, etc. there.

A little more about 3/4 time and Two Fux: Most of pop music has a 4/4 time signature, which means that if you listen to most pop or rock songs, you can count 1,2,3,4 over and over to the beat of the music. There are numerous time signatures in music, such as 2/4, 5/4, 3/4, etc. Some music doesn't even have a time signature -- and can be played according to the musician's preference or to a common standard. There are even simple and complex meters (look up this stuff if you are interested--it is musical theory and interesting to those of us who are music nerds!) Time signatures can help create a mood or tone in music, preference of the composer, context of the piece and more. In the dance world music with certain time signatures are used with certain dances. The reason Two Fux has been referred to as a waltz is that 3/4 time is the time signature always used for waltzes. Listen to any waltz and you can count 1,2,3 like Two Fux (ask DancyGeorgia for more dance stuff--she is really knowledgeable). I wouldn't be surprised for the song to show up sometime on Dancing with the Stars! Time signatures can be simple or complicated -- and in complex pieces of music a number of time signatures can be used in a single piece of music. One well known composition in 5/4 time is Take Five by jazz musician Dave Brubeck (look it up; it's very cool). I am a singer, and I have sung many choral and solo pieces that include more than one time signature to create tension, change of mood or tone, and create a resolution to a musical line. Using 3/4 time for Two Fux helps to give the song that swingy, dancy and happy rhythm. I hope my long-winded explanation helps. By the way, I often listen to music and count the time signature in my head. I love trying to figure this out when it isn't straight-forward. I guess I'm a music nerd, too. Lol. (I am a trained vocalist and also have some background with keyboards as well as a few other random instruments that I don't play well).

The stage looks great! They all seem so excited about this new show, so I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves this time around.
Reminder for those who might not know: Arizona is on Pacific Daylight Time because they don't go on daylight savings time. Arizona is the SAME TIME AS LOS ANGELES or WEST COAST of the USA.
Off to get the TV CAST set up!!!

This has turned out to be a fabulous birthday, and I haven't even had to leave my couch! I am loving Two Fux because it is so Adam. Will it be played on radio or not? Who knows. I remember a little song that was an internet meme and became a radio monster called "All About the Bass" from a few years ago. It certainly didn't fit in a box of any sort, and I think every year a few songs come out that are just so irresistible that people love them regardless. I think this is a great song for Adam, a great anthem for what is happening right now and very empowering for those who don't fit in society's box. I can't wait to hear it on tour, and I especially love that it brings out the best in Adam's voice. It's very subversive yet playful; which also makes me happy because a playful Adam is a good thing! He's definitely in his happy place.

That was a great speech and well worth waiting for! Adam is a really great public speaker, and I loved the last line about all colors of the rainbow shining equally. Very nice.

Hi there! I haven't been around in awhile (real life), but I think Adam would be a great addition to Idol for all the usual reasons. Another item not mentioned here is personality, as in it would be great for all the judges to get along well professionally and even personally. Those who have watched the trainwreck that was Nicki and Mariah can attest to this. Katy and Adam are buddies and respect one another a great deal, and this would be great for the judging panel. Adding another person that fits that mix would make for a panel that is fun, credible and will resonate well with contestants. Just my thoughts...
