I am trying to buy a ticket through the Adam Lambert fan club for Houston, and after losing some tickets because the timer ran out, the site won't let me in to buy a ticket. I keep getting a message saying the sale is restricted. Anybody else having trouble with this? Any way around this? "waves for help"

Thanks for the info about VIP, guys! Drinks and snacks are fine--I'm just looking forward to walking around with my snazzy VIP lanyard and feeling special! LOL.... Actually, I just wanted really good seats and to give a special experience to my sister who is heading quickly to a big birthday.

I have used both Uber and Lyft in Seattle, and I have had better experiences overall with Lyft. Both work pretty well.
Question to anyone who had VIP tickets the last time around: What is the lounge before the show like, and what did you end up receiving as "special gifts". I am just wondering what to expect--especially since I just drained my bank account to buy tickets!

I just got my tickets for Seattle! I bought VIP silver tickets (gulp) that were really expensive, but this might be the last tour, so I am justifying the price to myself! I am also taking my sister for her birthday -- she has wanted to see QAL and actually saw them with Freddie back in the day. It should be fun, and I will be posting in the Seattle thread so hopefully we can meet up with other Atopians too. Yay!!!!! (It's not strange that I was sitting there staring at the countdown clock on Ticketmaster for awhile before the site went live is it? )

Hi everybody! It's been awhile since I have been here on any regular basis because of real life, but I hope to be around more often. My sister and I are already planning our trip to see QAL in Seattle and have booked our hotel. We are staying at the Mediterranean Inn (about a block or two from Key Arena, which is a good thing if you know about Seattle, traffic and the price of parking there). By the way, since I just moved from Seattle about 6 months ago after living there for 14 years, if anybody wants hints, advice, bus schedules, area information or a good place to eat -- feel free to PM me. I would be happy to help! By the way, hotels in the area of the arena or anywhere downtown are expensive -- and if not expensive, you really don't want to go there unless you get a fabulous deal or something. There are great bus routes, an expanding light rail system and other transit that make it pretty easy to get around, so if you are not wanting to spend a lot of money, stay near the airport or away from downtown and make use of mass transit or Uber.
I am already excited about this tour, and I wish I could also go to another concert (especially the Hollywood Bowl, which is an amazing venue and where I once saw Ella Fitzgerald). Don't know if that will happen, but I am getting VIP tickets for this concert! I can't wait to meet up with folks and flail!

As soon as I saw that deck railing, I thought "Alison's house" -- which means I am a pretty invested fan, ha!
I really like what you said, LindaG, about marriage being equated to fandom. I agree that people often have unrealistic expectations of others in a variety of situations and then become disenchanted when those people don't live up to the fans expectations. Just like in a marriage, you can't expect someone to become a different person or have the same expectations you do just because you want them to. My little sermon of the night from years of counseling couples pre-marriage as a pastor. Uff-da.

Update from Lisa in Portland (scroll is your friend, if you want to skip my long-winded post) Hello everyone! Well, this is about the 3rd time I have actually been at the computer this month--moving has been quite an adventure (and not really the fun kind). The friend I take care of who has Alzheimer's, Janet, fell last week in the driveway and ended up in the hospital for 3 days. She is okay, but has a horrible bruise on her face and five fractured ribs. I have been putting furniture together, hanging stuff up, planting stuff in the yard, mowing (for the first time in years with my new cordless electric mower), trying to fix healthy food (ha!) and just got my gas stove installed yesterday (and we won't talk about how much money it cost to run the gas pipe from one end of the house to the other because I didn't want to live without a gas stove for years like I did in my last house). On the upside, I am in Portland and have already had one friend over to help me unpack and hang out with. More friends in the area -- who are all as busy as I am. I am close to my family, which was great yesterday when my parents stopped by with lunch and helped out around the house for awhile. I am also back in a smaller city than Seattle, where even in traffic it takes less time to drive places I want to go--and I can get from one side of the city to the other in less than half an hour on most days. Portland (if you haven't ever been here) is a great, mid-sized city with big city amenities like fabulous restaurants, tons of breweries, a walkable and vibrant downtown with smaller great neighborhoods, lots of parks, decent traffic, very friendly people, a high local "wierdness quotient" and live and let live attitude, very pet friendly, bicycle friendly, and the most strip clubs per capita in the United States (no really, that's true. I have no idea why it's true, but I suppose it's another Portland thing). We are also home to the country's largest independent book store (Powell's) which takes up an entire city block and has maps so you don't get lost--otherwise known as book mecca). Portland also has a great public transit system including a light rail system (Max), street car and buses. And no sales tax!!! Can you tell I am happy to be home? Oh, and to add the Adam element--the radio stations here actually play his music more than Seattle did and I would bet I have a better chance of seeing him in concert here someday than Seattle as well. I am very happy Adam is doing so well, and the picture that David Wild posted regarding the Greatest Hits show is hilarious! I remember that Diva's show, and I look forward to this one now because I know he will make good use of Adam's talents! Bowie tribute would be fabulous! And about that use of WATC at the GOP convention ... if you have nothing nice to say, I guess I you shouldn't say anything at all (politics aside, if a band says that they don't want you to use their music, you should respect their wishes). Peace and hi to all!!! Happy to be back on board (or at least back on the board...).

I use manuka honey in my tea or eat a spoonful a day to help my immune system. Since I have type 2 diabetes, honey is a good substitute for sugar since it doesn't spike and cause high blood sugar the same way regular sugar does. I have used tea tree oil for years as well -- it is what gives manuka honey its' unique properties since the bees pollinate tea tree plants. Interesting stuff!

First of all, a very belated THANK YOU to everyone who wished me good birthday wishes a couple of days ago, and Linda--it was a very nice day for my birthday and we went out for a lovely dinner (after a day spent with utility hook-ups and putting furniture together). Yesterday it dropped 18 degrees and began to rain.
Grandduchess -- never say never to BM! We can do a baby BM here in Portland if you come to visit! Think of my backyard as the playa!
To all, I am just getting online for the first time in about 5 days--and I feel really out of the loop! I completely missed the past two concerts due to moving, and I am finally online once again as of today (thanks to the cool CenturyLink guy who is a fellow Tour de France fan--Alpe du Huez!). I am living in a house full of boxes, as it took the movers two trips from Seattle to get all the stuff to Portland. There are a few things that didn't make it and a couple things that need to go back--they brought a light fixture for my old house and one of the smoke alarms I had removed to put in a new battery, lol). I needed to move back to be closer to my family (and just wanted to come home) and brought along our 91 year old family friend who has moderate Alzheimers. My family looked after her for the week-end, and then I have been working on getting her settled into this new place this week. Not an easy feat, and last night she was thumping around from about 11pm to 1pm trying to put things away and talking loudly to the cats. I woke up and made her go to bed. Oof! This week-end will finally be more relaxing unpacking time with wine included to help move the process along. Happy to be back in Portland--I am proud to help keep Portland weird!
