Brian and Roger both seem to be in good health, so I expect them to continue doing this until they drop! They've both got a few years to go before they hit 70, which is only a number in this day and age! Look at Paul McCartney, for pete sake; he's 72...and still going strong! God bless them all, I say! If you've still got it, use it! Why not? We only go around once, so do what you love! Just noticed that Brian (July 19) and Roger (July 26) both have birthdays coming up this month! Thank you guys for your warm and welcoming messages! So much appreciated! Will do my best to participate more! My QAL concert is coming up on July 20 in MD, and I'm over the moon excited about it! Since Merriweather Post Pavilion is an outdoor venue (Oh, geez! The heat!!), I'm anxious to see if they have any sort of catwalk setup! I hope so 'cause I'm in Center section, Row T, and that would bring Adam just a bit closer to me! EEEEEEEEEE!!! Welcome, tlcmom!! Glad you are here!

This whole thing about Adam's tardiness...I just checked back on the concert thread for Vegas (p. 2) and there was a post at about 5:50 pm of Adam arriving at the venue. Unless he leaves after the sound check and returns later ready for the show? All that being said, he seems to usually be where he's supposed to be when he's supposed to be. Seems like the delayed show starts for this tour might be more because of getting the audience into the arenas rather than Adam being late. (Sorry I sound a little defensive of Adam here! This whole lateness meme makes him sound like Axl Rose sometimes!) ETA: I do see that on Sunday he arrived after 7:30. So they must have been discussing Sunday rather than Saturday. Still, the show started pretty much on time! It is! The Joint did not have the most organized staff, especially the first night. Weird, since they have concerts ALL THE TIME! 8:15 gives people a chance to get drinks and such. Anyway, the Vegas shows were scheduled for 8:00, so a 15-20 minute delay is really nothing, for any concert! I asked one of the staff members on Saturday. He said they reconfigured the whole floor, making the center section bigger and moving the right and left further to the sides. They made so many last minute changes, the STAFF had to read the row labels in marker on the floor.

Wow, thanks Butterknife! I'm going to relive the concert right now! Also, thanks HSM for the shoutout in the news thread. I wrote my recap when I got home, then slept until 10 AM. (Normally, I'm up 4 to 5 AM.)

Not so Quietlion's Las Vegas Recap Now that I'm home with access to a real computer keyboard, I thought I'd take the time to share some impressions with everyone. My DH was willing to go to exactly one concert with me, so of course I chose Las Vegas! He was also happy to attend the A-top luncheon organized by grandduchess (thank-you!). I ignored him a bit as I met many lively, interesting women whose posts and pictures (looking at you augenpoesie) I so enjoy. For Saturday, we were on the floor. It was fun to be up front in this smaller venue. The set was simpler, but Adam, Brian, Roger, Spike and Neil more than compensated with lots of improvised moves around the stage. The sound was great, too. DH enjoyed it, especially the fast songs. He was "air drumming" along. Unfortunately, I had a few experiences that mirrored Seoulmate's. (If you have not read her Vancouver recap, do it now! I'll wait.) Latecomers literally butt into my row right at Adam's entrance. I missed it completely, seeing only their inconsiderate butts. Although I expected everybody to stand, we were packed in so tightly that I needed to bob and weave quite a bit to see. I succeeded often, but Adam was too far upstage left for me to see the end of "Fat-Bottomed Girls". The cameraman cut away right when he said, "Get on your bikes and ride!". Coward! Luckily, our videographers capture all the good stuff. Worse, though was "Who Wants to Live Forever". Adam was very close to me and I was looking forward to this moment. But right at the beginning of the song, someone above dropped beer on the guy in front of me. He loudly and colorfully started cursing. Security was right on it, but then this beer-head (internally as well as externally) continued a shouted conversation with his buddies, about the cocktail waitress's physical attributes, among other things. Adam was right there, singing his heart out!!! Luckily, the mirror ball came down and they were distracted by the shiny. I got to hear and see the end of the song. Magnificent! Sunday morning, as we were riding the elevator, we were joined by a family of four...all in Queen T-shirts. The dad was a big guy with lots of tattoos. He started a conversation with, "Did you see the show last night? That Adam Lambert really did Freddie proud!" The wife agreed and said it felt just like it did in 1974. The dad reminisced a bit and then wiped his eye! I am so glad that Brian, Roger and Adam have the guts to do this tour, in spite of the naysayers. They are touching a lot of lives. Wow! This is getting really long! Need a coffee break? I'll wait. Sunday night, I shared balcony seats with sk_pf. (DH was off doing a little gambling.) I loved these seats. Adam had lasers! Seeing the full effect, especially during Brian's guitar solo, was awesome. Did I say that I loved, loved, loved this show? Adam did not go for as many glory notes, but he did two things that I really like. First, he added several "bluesy" riffs. (Is bluesy even a word?) Second, he danced a lot more. To me it was playful and joyous. I noticed his new bling at the end of the show...but if you'll indulge my splashing in the shallow end, I prefer his sweaty chest...no necklace required. At the end of the second concert, as we were being herded out of the venue towards the casino floor, I was right in front of three male queen fans. They were like an echo chamber, repeating each other's statements. I tuned in on "not like Freddie". It wasn't a #FLD (TM bridgeymah), but wistful and longing. It tempered the joy I was feeling. They went on to say, "That guy really could sing, though. Yeah, he could sing. He could really sing, though." He laid it all out there, he went all out, all out. Freddie would not have done a couple of songs like he did, no he wouldn't, no, but some were close. Yeah, some were close, not bad at all. Just before they moved away, I heard, "He really nailed Killer Queen, though. Freddie would have laughed." My joy returned, full force.

Thanks Q3 for the recap of all recaps! I clearly should have done more research on the United Center before choosing my seat... and I LIVE in Chicagoland. I am so glad some of the videos captured that soaring sound. Everyone, please keep writing those recaps. I want them all!

Good Morning All!
After a few hours sleep and a LARGE cup of coffee, I think I am coherent enough to share some impressions after being BLOWN AWAY last night.
My seats were much closer to the front than I expected. The visuals were awesome from the "guitar cam" close-ups on Brian's fingers to Adam's very sparkly leopard suit. (Added bonus...three A-tops nearby to squee with...waving at you!) Unfortunately, the sound mix was muddy. Arenas just aren't made for music. Unlike iHeart, the vids had better sound. They prove how unified and excellent Queen and Adam Lambert have become. Major thanks to everyone taking and sharing video. I don't know how they concentrate or hold the camera steady.
With her permission, I thought I'd share some of my twenty-something daughter's comments. She likes both Queen and Adam, but is not a "fan" of either. She came for me. I have a wonderful daughter.
Her first unsolicited comment came after a large close-up of Adam in the big Q. Fanning herself she said, "He really is handsome, isn't he?" Another one bites the dust!
Talon would enjoy how impressed she was with Queen, specifically Brian and Roger. Not only did she recognize more songs than she thought she would...("The Show Must Go On" was featured in the movie "Moulin Rouge", who knew? Talon and Q3, of course.)...she realized about halfway through the concert that the familiar Queen sound was achieved LIVE. Brian and Roger could sing as well as they played. Then she innocently asked, "Did Freddie play an instrument?" Oh, the humanity!!!!!! I'll e-mail her some vids of Freddie on keys, I promise.
On the way home in the car, I told her I was sorry that they didn't do "Don't Stop Me Now". This was the only song she was eager to hear before the concert. She said, "Are you kidding me? Lambert did one big song after another! Every time I thought, he cannot possibly top this, he did." Then, she snickered, "He looked like the King of Diamonds (playing card) in that last outfit." Alien, anyone?
Ok, reading back, perhaps I am not really coherent enough yet to post. Hope you receive my rambling thoughts in the spirit they are sent.

Hi all!
Back in Chicagoland, tired but happy. It is totally out of character for me to just drop everything and fly off to a concert. (Much more typical for me is to watch everyone else's stuff while THEY go on the rollercoaster.) But I like the top! For all you quiet lions out there, do not let seeing Adam and Queen live pass you by. Just go, you won't be sorry. Being with Adam fans makes everything betterer, especially the Adamtopians I met on this trip.
I was very fortunate that Q3 was able to be my "plus one". She's so knowledgeable, friendly and talks to everyone! I think the car rental guy may actually go to a Queen concert on her recommendation. She drew such interesting stories out of the fans in line at iHeart. And Sam Sparrow is very handsome in person...
The live stream was good, but truthfully, not even close to the live experience. I was on the floor, and the sound mix was excellent! While I never took my eyes off Adam, (come on, it's Adam Lambert), I let my ear wander. Adam's voice was confident, expressive, nuanced. (Is it unusual for a big voice to be nuanced?) I loved hearing Adam's voice and Brian's guitar responding to each other. One moment I noticed Roger's high harmony...next a keyboard countermelody...then some classic rocking out. Every time Brian did a guitar solo, the twenty-something guy behind me would gush, "Did you HEAR that? Did you SEE that?" Hear? Yes! See? No! I only had eyes for Adam.
There was one moment in the concert that Adam looked right at me, and I felt connected. There were several A-tops near me, and they felt the same way. Unfortunately, it was during "Fat-Bottomed Girls". And since I've seen these lovely ladies in real life...this song title just doesn't apply to them. Therefore, he really was looking at me!
Anyway, I've always enjoyed other people's recaps. Here are my ramblings to add to the mix.

I think I need that dancing cat that throws money around. I also have tickets for Chicago, Las Vegas, Izod and Atlantic City, bringing different family members to each. Before Adam, I rarely traveled outside of business/family events. I've never been a " fan" before either. Although, the one and only album I owned growing up was Queen, " A Night at the Opera". This is as close as I could come. </img> </img> Thanks, 4EverAdam! These cats are perfect (and much better than that angry bear that just showed up.)
