I was watching a count down of the top 100 artists of all time last night on TV. The clothes!!!! God, nothing Adam has worn would be that far out of place during any decade the 'top artists' were from. Some of that stuff was plain CRAZY...good Crazy, but still crazy! I kept thinking, Adam fits right in with these people!

When I saw Adam this summer in concert, I only ever noticed him unless the other person on stage was in direct contact with him. I hope Adam always has the employees on tour with him that support him and make him happy, but they are just his employees.

Tommy Joe Ratliff hit the motherlode. As a shit-kicker mediocre musician, not only was he hired by Adam Lambert for a USA/World tour, (because he had "the look", lets be honest) but he has also won the friendship of virtuoso Monte Pittman who is the source of many gigs in the off times. Many believe that he deserves accolades because he played the role of Adam's "sex object" for the tour, but does anyone really believe that Tommy would never have complied with that, especially with his fluid sexuality , at times he seems more gay than Adam. Tommy may not be on the next tour, but 2010/11 has served him very well so far. IMO I'm not the world's (or even this board's) biggest Tommy fan. I'm mostly not that interested one way or the other in him. On the other hand, I don't think we should be that dismissive of his talents and what he brought to the band. He's a pretty good lead guitarist, but learned to play bass when requested. He's developed a fun stage presence entirely separate from the fan service. He's inspired a lot of affection from Monte, Cam, and Isaac. And Adam considers him a friend. No matter his role with the band going forward, I'm not willing to second guess Adam's judgment or anyone else's affection for him.

I thought there would be more laughter about Adam's tweet here. Doesn't anyone think it was a post bedroom tweet? We had a good time with it on Twitter. And we think he knows that we know.

I hope Adam always has the employees on tour with him that support him and make him happy, but they are just his employees. Adam will always bring friends along and those who start out as employees will often wind up being freinds. He stated that life on the road without freinds, many whom he considers family, wasn't for him. Turning everyone into "employees" is asking for Adam to live an empty life of lonliness. Doesn't mean he may not have to make some tough decisions where his career needs outweigh his friends needs but he'll always try to do it so that he keeps the friend too.

I doubt mediocre musicians would have ever made it in front of Adam let alone hired. And I'm sure his looks played a part in getting the job but imagine it was a combination of skill/looks/attitude. having watched Adam and Tommy's interactions throughout GNT the word compliant seems to make both Adam and Tommy out as something other than two guys who looked like they were having a blast on stage living out their mutual Velvet Goldmine fantasy. Yes, he was lucky and acknowledges that fact but I think we all were lucky that Adam put together such a fun dynamic crew that made the tour so much fun. I agree. Tommy plays well and fit in with the group very well. I don't think Adam would pick a musician just for his looks.

Thought it was time for a little historical pic spam of straight dudes who wear makeup on stage (apologies for inflicting some of these men on you all, but they fit the category). I would dig up similar pics/gifs of "stage-gay" through the ages, but really gotta run and be productive for awhile. ETA: (although this is probably obvious) the way you look, dress, talk, walk, and what you do on stage/film/tv doesn't equal your sexuality. As a huge Duran Duran fan, I always thought Adam was indirectly channeling his inner Duran Duran during is AOL Session photo shoot. Whatta think?

The Junos were on last night (Canadian version of the Grammys), during which Neil Young was awarded a humanitarian award. I paraphrased part of his speech in a post yesterday but was able to take it down from a rerun today. His words made me think of GNAFL in a big way.
NY: "To try to do this humanitariany kind of thing, you need to look inside yourself. And the musicians, they should not worry about helping others, they should focus on their music first. Because the music is the language of love and the language that we all feel together. So music makes it happen and then if you're lucky and you have an opportunity, it's a good thing to do, to go ahead and try to do something else.
But for all you, whether you have any music in you or you're just a listener or whatever, then you just look inside yourself and look inside the persons around you. And in this world we live in, there's so many distractions and TV and people telling you what's going on around the world and how people all hate each other and everything. These people telling us all of this, it's like perfume on a dirty body. So you just gotta look inside yourself and look inside the eyes of your friends, and you'll find the secret of how to be a humanitarian. Love to you."
I think GNAFL at 29, knows exactly what Neil, at 65, is talking about and has been putting it into action for some time.
