Hi all. Asking for some positive vibes out to the universe again. I'm having a basel cell removed from my face tomorrow, followed up by plastic surgery to hopefully keep me from looking like a freak. Send those thoughts out for me 'cause I'm a little nervous and scared. Extra prayers coming your way!!

That pic of Adam and Tommy is almost iconic now - and I think that's fantastic. That performance is part of the Adam Lambert story (exciting, ground-breaking) - not the whole story, but a part that I and some others still enjoy. Not saying anyone else has to like it by any means, but I just think it's important to keep in my mind that plenty of folks don't AT ALL see it as some sort of horrible thing that should not be mentioned, die, or whatever. I agree. Not wanting to dredge it all up again, but really want to say some things about this. I have mixed feelings about the AMA performance -- there are some dreadful memories mixed up with that -- the anger in the performance, the less than stellar vocals, the fall, the tremendous expectations that were kind of twisted into what felt like a letdown, or worse, a disaster. But then on the other hand there was the ninja roll -- how the hell did he do that?! Incredible!! And the kiss, hot as hell, along with the bj simulation which together prompted the cancellations -- and the media attention. And led to the CBS Early Show appearance, which in my view was pretty damn triumphant. AND...led to a lot of international attention, and ultimately more fans than he lost. I think the pic of *the kiss* is absolutely an iconic moment (the expressions on their faces are AMAZING, imo), and part of Adam's growing legend. It's been said here before, but I really think the AMA performance, painful as it was to live through it, led to Adam being where he is today. It's incredible to me, especially in retrospect, to look at how Adam salvaged what could have been a disaster. His instincts were so strong, so right on -- both on stage, and in interviews afterwards. Really impressive. And an irrevocable part of his story.

Sutan just said that Adam is a very talented make-up artist in his own right. He said that Adam has said if he hadn't gone into music performance he would be interested in becoming a make-up artist. I didn't know that. I'm sure I remember that Adam worked at a Mac(?) make-up counter and was offered a very good job by the company. I don't remember the MAC quote, but I do recall Adam saying he might have been a makeup artist. Something like that. The only retail job I'm aware of is Macy's. Perhaps he worked the MAC counter there. Fall 2000 - Winter 2001 I left school and my dad said, “I’m not paying your bills. You’ve got to get a job.” So I got a job working at Macy’s in Orange County at the Main Place mall right near Fullerton. I was doing retail and I stayed there for about six months. latimesblogs.latimes.com/americanidoltracker/2009/08/adam-lambert-the-ultimate-interview-part-1.html

Can't remember where I heard this but I definitely heard it.

Adam was a cosmetics demonstrator at the MAC Counter in Macys -- he was offered a job as a MAC trainier because he was a make-up star. He turned it down.
Can you imagine having Adam wait on you? I would have bought 2 of everything he recommended.
ETA: The $50,000 a year job was mentioned by Eber in an interview with a local San Diego reporter. SDNN I believe. It was the MAC Trainer Position.

I was not put off by the "anger." I related to it. I saw it more as intensity, "heat," release, and no regrets.
I can't wait to see Adam perform on something, somewhere, again.
