I found the video where Nile Rodgers was featured very interesting. What he said must be listened in the context. It was a live discussion at 'Advertising week' on advertising, brands and music. Most of the time he spoke about brands, how they are created over time by finding a signature style and message for the artist and how he tries to attract new audiences by combining elements in a new way and on many levels (in songwriting and producing) the goal being to induce an emotional response. His way of doing it is usually horisontal team work, for a song building it from start to finish, for a career planning to reach new heights. Different in Adam's case was that his job was much more limited, only a guitar part for an existing song described as vertical involvement which he still approached as a team effort and tried to enhance the funk in the song. In view of what was discussed before he had to make a distinction that it was not an example of building a brand. Involving Adam in this discussion was a sidestep from the topic on host's part which threw Nile a little out of balance and on sidetrack. I think he was being honest and real, maybe wondering should he talk about Idol concept/brand or developing Adam's brand/career which was not the case. It sounded like he was uncomfortable with the show or brands-out-of-a-show (voting out, short span) and decided to get back on track: how his job in this case was done (enhancement) and his reasons for doing it (funk(y) song, knowledge and appreciation of Sam's work). * I understood he was there to talk about HIS work. He did not actually praise any artist other than Sam which he did because Sam's first album was his reference point to the job (guitar on Shady). (I could make an assumption that he was not that familiar with Adam's work.) Of course it would have been nice to hear him singing Adam's praises - but other artists were not the focus here. In my opinion, this does not diminish in any way his earlier gushing how their working together (Adam being present in the studio) was enjoyable and the song was sick. * I forgot to mention that he was also apprehensive about this job it being 'vertical' where it might be cut etc and his idea might be lost but happy that it did not happen. Thank you for adding perspective to this issue, for doing it so well and for taking the time. My quick take (prefer your longer one) is that they were interviewing a "giant" in his field (Niles) about a specific topic. I think the fact that they brought up Adam so early in the interview was amazing and I totally agree that the question threw Niles off a little in the context of the discussion. Not a linear thinker, IMHO. Trespassing is alive ..VERY ALIVE... This will be a HIT ,

No doom and gloom, justing getting psyched up to do requesting and working oour fingers to the bone. Gotta do the radio games. Gotta tweet, gotta play the smash its or trash it games, gotta go onto the sites where it is on the play list and request, play whack a mole. Gotta watch twitter for when they do requests. it's a full time job.
But if you all get to know your local stations and join in, Adam can be a major success.
But Adam is competing against some heavy hitters, namely, Bruno, Kesha, Rhianna (all have new singles), One D, Carly Rae, unfortunately the biebs, now Psy with Gangnam

Ok, where was Bruno on twitter when we were trying so hard to get NCOE played??? Sorry, couldn't help it.
Text, tweet, and call. That is all we can do. Don't waste time on media base forms---I have been told this by two people in radio.
Also, before fans get too stressed, realize that the label needs to step up. The success of Trespassing is going to require serious push from the label. This is a song that if heard, I think will connect. But, getting it heard is going to require RCA doing something.
