Good way to piss off all the classic rock fans who are actually voting based on guitar skills or importance to the history of rock guitar literature rather than based on thank you notes for being a friend. So far they have not found out who is driving these votes and what is going on, but if they ever do, then Adam is the one who will be hated on by musically inclined classic rock fans, who will feel duped by this. That is just another thing Adam needs in his life. Antagonism against him created by his own fans. Can only hope at this point that those guys never find out what is driving these numbers, because if they do, it is bad news for Adam. This is so short sighted, imo. Brian's guitar playing is amazing...it is like a violin...I am in awe with his skill and musicality and virtuosity and the simple fact that his playing keeps me captivated as if I were listening a great classical musician.... You know - the "greatest" is a very, very fuzzy criteria. TO ME -he is. He is the **greatest** to me too. The guitar comes alive in his hands. His playing gives me the chills. 8-)

Oh crap! His next opponent is Jimmy Hendrix! Brian won't win against Hendrix. My voting for Brian May vs Jimmy Page was based on the way B May's playing makes me feel. I'm from the Puget Sound/Seattle area where Jimmy Hendrix is majorly honored but if I were to pick the most proficient , IMO, it would be Yngwie Malmsteen from Sweden.http://youtu.be/aS_IYe5JTZ4 Adam and Brian are my loves !!

I didn't vote in this poll, was there a place to leave a comment? As for what it means in terms of Adam and his future career I'm gonna go out on a limb and say not a thing. Adam isn't courting Classic rock fans so who cares what they think? Also, if Brian wasn't qualified to win the site should've have made him an option. Brian is hailed as one of the best guitarist in the world and I doubt seriously that the Glamberts are responsible for him winning that round against Page. If Glamberts were as powerful as some seem to believe Adam would be at the top of the radio charts and sales charts.

But I am not going to vote him against Jimi Hendrix, since even though BM actually moves me more, I think JH is really the all time best.

I looked at the BM vs JP poll a little differently. I LOVE most of the guitarist that are up for a vote in the first place. It is sort of unfair to pick a favorite. They have all written and played music that is totally woven into my life. I voted for BM because of the length and depth of his work. And, he's still actively bringing it. Majorly IMO. I was introduced to the poll here, the fact that this is an Adam blog did not influence my vote. Personally, I'm a music fan first. I'm glad the Queen site promoted the poll. It was when it was posted there that the poll numbers started moving.

But I am not going to vote him against Jimi Hendrix, since even though BM actually moves me more, I think JH is really the all time best. I agree with both of you. I think we give way too much credence to classic rock fanboys. I was a classic rock fan myself--before it was classic and when it was still contemporary, lol. I still return to a lot of the 70s stuff and it moves me in a way that pop probably never will, but I *do* get sick of it and am always looking for a new sound. I was happy to vote for Brian over Jimmy Page. IMO, Page is overrated (doesn't mean he's not great); Brian is waaay under-rated. But it's just an opinion. As far as Hendrix, I think a lot of people would agree he is the greatest of all time, both in technique and inventiveness. But people who die young (and especially the 27 club) hold an extra mystique. Some of Hendrix's stuff sounds dated to me, too psychedelic, but his later stuff was a promise of taking the blues in a totally new direction. Who knows where he would've taken it? That's part of the reasons he's so revered--his stuff is under glass and can't be touched. People always mention Beck, Page, Clapton, and Hendrix as the greatest--and then all the rock fans like to argue who's overrated and who's underrated and nominate their own unknown or obscure faves. Rock fans are notoriously passionate, argumentative, and territorial. But please let's not act like the 20-year-old to 50-year-old male rock fans are somehow more worthy of determining greatness. Oh, except for Talon I would love for Adam to be attract hoards of twenty-something male fans like Eddie Vedder or Neil Young do (he probably would love it too! except for the unimaginative flannel ;D), because those kinds of fans ensure longevity and the musicians have the "cool" factor no matter how old they get. But it's just not who he is. Crap! Expounding again. Should stick to my character-limiting phone!

Today I heard NCOE on a Calgary radio station while I was in my bank. This made me sooo happy. I was convinced Calgary is an Adam-free land this era. Well, not entirely true... our Up 97.7 still plays WWFM from time to time among the hits from 80s and 90s.

Nica, the main part about Adam starts around 10:25. The part you are quoting at 0:58 is just the introduction / announcement. You can stop the video, move your cursor to 10:20 or something and then just let it buffer there for a while, and then press play. It will still stop and go, but at least you can listen to reasonably large chunks at a time. And thanks for the translation of the first part. ETA: approx 10:20 - 11:30 yup, thank you! www.mtv.ru/video/newsblokmtv184vypusk28092012/They start by saying that Adam had so many different looks that his fans find it hard to recognize him. They have a piece of the interview that we've seen (from AU?) where he says he does not use stylists that often any more, and makes the changes because he just wants to change. Then they flash all the various looks but erroneously say that all these (blond, ginger, brown, black, short, long) were done in the last two years... They conclude nicely by saying that the one thing that stays constant is his VOICE and the fans can alwaysidentify him this way. ;D (which is true On Youtube: Just Adam Published on Oct 3, 2012 by GlambertNews.ru AdamFan

I didn't vote in the earlier rounds because I don't vote in polls that pit a living artist against a dead legend. It seems meaningless to me then. I don't plan to vote in the Hendrix round. That's just me though.
I was happy to vote for Brian in this past round because he's amazingly talented and wonderful and has a greater body of work and creativity, imho, than Page. He's hardly a charity case.
As for fans influencing voting ... and speaking of dead people ... I go back far enough as an Elvis fan to remember that Elvis regularly topped polls of all-time great guitarists for many, many years, long before the Internet. Elvis was quite a good rhythm guitarist but not in competition with these guys ... naturally all the "fan boys" hated how the Elvis fans stuffed the ballot box.
But as E used to say ... that's the way it is ...
By the way, the comments on the last round from yesterday were full of vile homophobic invective directed at Queen, Freddie, and Brian by Page fans. Not Page's fault but still ... made me sorry I could only vote once a day. If those guys are all burned up today, then it was the least I could do for an amazing and under-rated musician, composer, and human being like Dr. May. And let's just say I didn't see too many potential Adam fans in the bunch.
All just my opinion, YMMV, etc. etc. etc.
