I am cheering you all on, but my goal is a less disciplined "be healthier".
I wanted to share with you a discovery I made at Costco--wonder if Sauli found it?! They now not only sell baby kale (which has GOT to be more palettable than the other awful stuff) but also a bagged Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Mix by Eat Smart. It goes down like a crunchy tossed salad--you don't notice you are eating kale, cabbage, chicory, shredded broccoli and even sliced up brussel sprouts! It comes with a poppy seed dressing and bag of cranberries and pumpkin seeds to make a total of 7 "superfoods". I find I use the greens with my own toppings too, to make a different salad every day. I feel so healthy and think of Adam every time!
Good luck everyone!

I am not sure how this thread works, but I want to share: Carrot juice (YES! ) in the morning and orange juice in the afternoon with my new juicer. Cycling with FYE DVD of music videos!

Hi Jablea! YAY! Let's do this again this year! Thanks so much for spearheading the effort. It's a chore to even try to get people to do this! I've been in denial for the past 6 months..... Last year I lost about 20 pounds & of course I've managed to gain most of it back. Totally my own fault -- eating way too many carbs & alot of junk food. I seriously need to get back on track. So I'll give it another shot. Starts tomorrow, huh? That means I have to eat up all the holiday goodies in the house TODAY. : Well at least it'll be a fun afternoon & evening... ;D I love that trapdoor gif, lol. Junk food, yum er I mean yuck.

Thursday - KaleYep, it's the official Adamtopia vegetable and it sounds like we have a winner in the department for those who live near a Costco. I've got my January coupons and yearly rebate check sitting on the counter so it looks like a trip may be in my near future also. Thanks to Kay for the info and we already have several other members who are trying it out so we should get a consensus soon. I've done the broiled kale (spritz with olive oil and dust with garlic powder, heat to medium crisp) and thrown a leaf or two into a smoothie. I may have slapped in on a sandwich too. Any other bright ideas out there? I wanted to share with you a discovery I made at Costco--wonder if Sauli found it?! Jablea Sorry to put you throught the pm bit..I did check out the thread this morning and was going to write a quite note out re lettuce when RL pulled me away. Agree...with gingerpf ...so good of you to pull us together again in terms of keeping Adam fans healthy. I lost my goal last year 10 pounds plus 2 more. Enough to drop one clothing size. I was doing pretty good until the end of Novemeber. So I will weigh in tomorrow and set my goal...most likely 6 or 7 pounds. I fell down on not working out in the last part of the year...that does need to improve. I need more than walking and I need to tone up! See you all tomorrow! ;D PS...re lettuce. I buy only romaine or spinach. I prefer a type that has one head of Romaine (dark green) not the type that has the good dark green leaves removed. I open the bag and tear out what I need. I then put that open bag with the Romaine in another little plastic bag and tie the ends...but still allow some air in. It lasts a pretty long time. If I buy the type that you put in the bag yourself ie the Farmer's market--- when I leave it more open to the fridge elements, it does not last as long. Interesting, a double bag method, I'll check that out too. I'm not sure what kind of greens I buy, I guess I'll have to look at the labels. I think it's probably green leaf lettuce and red leaf lettuce. My rabbits tend to get quite a bit as I buy it and then don't use it for 3 days. I think I got romaine this last time, so far I like it.

Hi Jablea thanks for the PM and for getting this going again. I haven't had much success losing weight lately, I really need something to jolt me into action, so I'm in! I've only had success when breaking up with boyfriends or here on the Shape Up threads. Since my marriage is in the double digit years these threads are all self-centered on my part. ;D

Hi All!! I'm back and trying to recover from the holiday season. My goals are: 1) To lose around 10 lbs 2) To get back to exercising routinely 3) TBD based on #1 and #2
About Kale, I bought a new/different Kale called Lacinato Kale and it is smaller and more tender. It works well on sandwiches as well as salads.

Saturday - Touch Your Toes
When I was younger I could never touch my toes but after I had my kid then all of a sudden I could. I've read that flexibility is in the hips so that makes sense.
Why do it? Sitting as so many of us do, mousing away on the computer really tightens my hamstrings as well as deadens my backside. Stretching helps.
So on the Kale front, I did go to Costco today but mine does not have the mix that Kay was talking about so I had to go with a big bag of organic triple washed baby kale instead. I put a handful in a banana/strawberry/blueberry smoothie this afternoon.
I did decent on water yesterday, not so much today. pfft!
