Must say Ep 115 and 116 were corkers. The acting was out of this world. Now to wait for Season 2 but as Adam fans we know all about waiting :D

Hi! This topic ha been vacated for a long time. I just remembered it. Years ago, I‘ve been a member of the Compuserve literary forum, Diana Gabaldon used to post new excerpts of the books and we discussed all of it. Unfortunately that’s gone and I wanted to share my thoughts somewhere, so I decided to post it here. I started to read the books in 2003. I read the first 5 books, that had been available at the time, and then waited for the next ones. 2005. 2010. 2015. In 2010 Diana did a public reading here in Berlin and she signed my book. Now, I‘m still waiting for the ninth book.  It has been more than 6 years already. Unfortunately, I don’t like the TV series. I loved the books, read all of them several times. But the actors simply don’t fit my images of the characters. I was happy to watch it in the beginning, accepted all the changes, because I know they’re necessary for the different medium. But also from the beginning, I wasn’t able to really enjoy the series. Now I only watch it from time to time, I haven’t watched the second half of season 5 yet. It’s waiting on my recorder. The more characters „arrived“ in the show, the worse it got. By now I get angry, because everything is about that stupid TV series and all I ever really wanted is the next book. Unfortunately my interest in the story has vanished a LOT by now. I haven’t touched one of the books in years and I‘m sad, that the TV show has somehow ruined the whole story for me.  After all this time, it’s hard to get my beloved characters back into my head and remove the images of the actors. I hope, it will work, when (or IF?) the next book comes out. They are starting to film season 6, while not a single book has been published since the TV series started.  Okay, now I got that off my chest. I will wait (im) patiently and hope that Mrs. Gabaldon will live long enough to finish her series.  |
