just had to log in to talk about Outlander!!! I am so hooked on this - since my last post here, I have bought and read all of the books, and am on the 2nd read, now on Echo in the Bone. Thanks to whoever it was here that told me to try again....... Loved last night's episode! So glad they did the spanking scene. I think it is really ridiculous that some critics are down on that, come on!!!!! Get with it! Read the NY Times review, that's the one I am referring to I loved the hot sex in the end, and KUDOS to Clair for using that and a knife against Jamies throat. Interesting that the scene was flipped, IMO. In the book it was Jamie that gave Claire the hard ride. I am surprised at the stuff in the series that is not in the book, why do they always do that? I thought it was good, but I really doubt that Jamie would have this much impact on what Collum does or does not do, this early in the game. I am not happy about the scene with Laoghaire, I don't think Jamie ever gave her the time of day, other than the kiss in the alcove. Where does she come off in this? Guess we will have to wait and see.
I have been waiting for months! I wish it was June so I could watch the whole series back to back.

I think it was more an internal thought than what was said to Laoghire, but that Jamie was gentle and didn't just tell her to get lost. For a teenager with stars in her eyes that would seem to give hope that Jamie had been forced to marry Claire and loved her instead. I agree the scene with Jamie giving advice to Collum is strange but I put it down to being able to condense the course of events or explain why collum does what he does. So much in the book is internal dialogue. I brought over a couple of reviews and I see what you mean about the first one in my list. The reviewer is thinking like a modern man and the point of the scene in part, is how it was a different time and perhaps meaning behind the action. Jamie of course doesn't spank/beat Claire out of meanness but because he feels that it is a duty. Claire reaction is of her own time and shows how if you will! Times have changed. Cause you know men don't hit out of duty, even then, but because they can. Is that law still on the books in Texas that says a man may beat his wife provided the stick he uses is no larger than his thumb? i can't wait for the wolf scene! Hopefully the graphics they use will be of high quality so it isn't ridiculous! artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/04/04/outlander-recap-season-1-episode-9-reckoning/www.nytimes.com/2014/08/02/arts/television/outlander-a-starz-series-adapted-from-the-novels.html?_r=0

the wolf scene is part of Claire's rescuing of Jamie from Wentworth Prison so it would be in this bunch of shows if Ron includes it. Why do you say it will be 2017? I understood it would be 2016 and my guess is January of 2016. I say this because Starz debuted the second season of Black Sails then. I think they are trying to keep all their original series from broadcasting at the same time. Producers and writers are back in Scotland now. I think they will begin filming now that the second half of the season and all the media hoopla for that has happened. If you don't have the audiobooks for Outlander, GET THEM. They are fabulous. I've read the books probably a dozen times since I heard of them here on Atop :D ETA this season covers Outlander. Season 2 will be the next book, Dragonfly In Amber

also, I am really excited that we will now get to have story POV's from both Jamie and Claire from here on out. Makes sense with what is to come.
