All of this Man in the Mirror discussion reminds me of how brilliantly Adam responded to interviewers who brought up his loss to KA after AI ended. His usual themes: It was a win making it to the end as he never had to miss a week of the opportunity to show people what he could do. (Positive paradigm and a reminder of his amazing week-to-week performances and of the versatility he displayed in them.) He got to sing with Kiss and with Queen in the finale. (Reminding people of the way he completely held his own with the big boys and was better than Gene and loved by Brian May.) By the end, he and Kris were not in competition with each other; they were apples and oranges. (You can't lose when there is no competiton, ) Kris was a really talented musician and was deserving of a win. (Adam is, and can afford to be, gracious.) He never thought he would make it as far as he had, being so left of center, and he was grateful for how far he did make it. (Although he is gay, he reminds the industry that enough people are behind him that he made it to the finale, and that he has developed a solid fan base.) Adam's responses are always so smart, and he keeps the same positive tone even when he has to make them over and over and over again.

The blog is the same articles that are on page 1 here. Same as we did on Planet Fierce for Members who were there. So it is the same -- not new. I think the blog is a great idea! The entertaining, thoughtful articles that appear on page one can be accessed more easily. People who want just that type of thing and not the squeeing and posting of personal messages and pictures can go there instead of paging thru 20 pages of comments daily. I will still be reading all 20 pages, but I will refer some less passionate fans to the blog for insight.

"It takes incredible strength of character to stand up and do your thing, even when the world is kicking dirt in your eye. It takes bravery to be true to yourself despite forces that want you to change. I can look in the mirror and find my own (and society’s) flaws just fine, thank you. You think it's hard to look in the mirror? It's a hell of a lot harder to look out at the world and say, "yes, this is me; take me as I am."When I’m looking for someone to admire, I am drawn to the person who makes me believe that the world can be a better place. When I look for inspiration, I want someone who makes me believe that I can be a better person. Someone who tells me that I'm beautiful, not that I am flawed.
Adam had every right to tell us to look in the mirror. Instead, he held out his hand and invited us to "believe in miracles."
Now that's a vision I will gladly follow." This brought me to tears. NoAngel, you speak with the voice of an angel. And it is the truth. Adam gives me hope the world can change. THAT is a vision that I, too, will gladly follow. ITA!

I am constantly amazed at how Adam seems to almost instinctively get the ton and content right in the toughest PR situations. It is not easy and there are no celebrities who do it better. Most PR pros with time to construct a response couldn't match what Adam does "on the fly".

Whew ...been gone for a few days... lots to catch up on ...
I just wanted to mention how jealous I am of all the viewing parties going on in various parts of the country. There is an article in the new Oprah magazine about online friendships (although in that case it was a cooking blog that started it) and how real friendship developed from it. I was thinking they should have researched Adamtopia to see what what happens when online friendships mix with real life! Since I've never managed to get anywhere that other posters gather, I have a question about your parties: do you all call each other by your real names or by your Atop names? I really love it when people refer to their husbands as Mr. Whatever their online name is (as in Mr. Mangokat! For some reason, I just found it hilarious that you were all sitting around watching GlamNation Live with Mr. Mangokat)
I think the blog is great idea. I'm always amazed at some of NoAngel's and Q3's essays. The writing here is way better than some of those Examiner articles.
Maybe when Q3's private concert happens, I'll be able to attend and hang with you all. By the way, Q3, by any chance were you heavily influenced by early Hayley Mills movies? Because this ...
"So I have cooked up a little plot. My special dream. Adam, I hope you are reading this today. It is a scathingly brilliant idea. Here goes….."
is right out of The Trouble With Angels!

Many I have not read. Thank you also, Cassie, for your informative posts. I have learned so much from you and I don't know if I have ever properly acknowledged you on the threads. Please know I pay particular attention to your posts and have popped in to the Vocal Masterclass thread from time to time.

Hey crispy, I'm just up the road from you in Madison. Less than 3 hours away. Maybe some time in the future for the next big thing we can get together. Would be nice to meet and enjoy our fondness for the one and only A. 8-)
