Morning (early afternoon) musings. All my opinion only.
For purposes of illustrating how much I appreciate the craft of enunciation, at which a certain Mr Adam Fucking Lambert excels, I can catch maybe one third of the words of this Ariana Grande performance. It really distracts from her voice, as I find myself straining to try to understand what she is saying. Does not make for easy enjoyment of the performance, IMO. Stephen King said it was the absolute responsibility of the writer to allow the reader to fall seamlessly into the story, I feel the same way about singers. And Adam delivers. So do Alicia Keys, Judy Garland, Ella, Keb Mo, Tony Bennett, Adele. It can be done, certainly. And I really want to enjoy this young lady, I like her voice.
On topic, love the picture of Adam waiting to board the boat. Just, you know, hanging around with my buddies, The Rock Legends.

On topic, love the picture of Adam waiting to board the boat. Just, you know, hanging around with my buddies, The Rock Legends. I agree with your comment about Ariana Grande. But she sells out large venues and sells a lot of music, so her fans don't really care if they can understand her lyrics or not. Same with Springsteen. Can't understand much of what he says, but people love him anyway. I'm feel so spoiled with Adam. He actually sings words you can understand whether it's his own music or Queen's or a cover song. It's just his style. He was trained to enunciate. He's also a very precise speaker. He doesn't mumble or stammer around like many people do. One more thing, I love that pic of Adam and Brian looking out over the city scape from the top of that tall building in Shanghai. Such good friends at the top of the world in so many ways.

Assuming the guy in white is Adam's personal assistant Simon Parkinson, instagram is hey_sparkey. And thinking the one with the black shirt is a fitness health guy who travels with QAL. I would have to back track for his name ...others might have documented it.

Aren't EU and Japanese DVDs not compatible in the US? Usually not -- but easy to "hack" -- just use a PC DVD Player. Unless you have a multi-region DVD player, most North American DVD players can't play PAL discs. (The format used in Japan.) Basically if North Americans want to purchase DVDs from around the world then they must have a multi region DVD player and a PAL compatible TV system; or be willing to watch the movie using a pc/laptop's DVD ROM drive (pc's are not format dependent. Most DVD players and TVs sold in PAL countries can play both formats of discs, however, this does not mean they can play any DVD (because of region restrictions). For example, a basic European DVD player (PAL Region 2 only) will be able to play a Japanese disc (NTSC Region 2), but not a US (NTSC Region 1) disc. An American basic DVD player (NTSC Region 1) will not play any other Region's DVD irrespective of format. There are region codes that indicate where a DVD can be played (see below). This is done so that releases can be staggered. Plus Region 1 DVD are NTSC only. The main difference between North American systems (Region 1) and other countries is that other countries' TV systems can play either PAL or NTSC DVDs whereas many US and Canadian TVs are NTSC only. Most North American DVD players are NTSC Region 1 only players. Film on a DVD is stored in digital format, and is formatted for one of two TV standards (NTSC or PAL). So apart from the region code issue there is the problem of disc format (two different formats of DVD, NTSC or PAL). The UK, Europe, Australia, etc use the 625 line 50Hz PAL system. Japan, USA and Canada use the 525 line 60Hz NTSC system. If you can't play a PAL format DVD, although you have a multi-region DVD player, it's possible that your TV is the problem and not the DVD. Region 1 USA, Canada, US Territories (NTSC format only) Region 2 Japan, UK Europe, South Africa, Middle East Region 3 Southeast Asia and East Asia (including Hong Kong and Thailand) Region 4 Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South America, Caribbean Region 5 Eastern Europe, Indian Subcontinent, Africa, Region 6 China Region 7 Reserved Region 8 Special International Venues (Planes, Ships etc) Region 0 Region Free DVD's There are 3 types of technology that are used to control DVD markets: 1) Region Code 2) Video Format, NTSC or PAL 3) Copy Protection Encryption 1) Region Code:Most movie and TV show DVDs will have a region code to control what market the DVD can be played in. However, many concert and instructional DVDs are region free, i.e., have a region code of 0, and can be played anywhere in the world. DVDs and BluRays with a region code restriction will have a symbol like one of the following on the back of the DVD box. I do not see any such marking on the back of the Queen DVDs that I have, so I think it is likely that any future QAL DVDs will have a region code. 2) Video Format:DVDs come in either NTSC and PAL video format depending on the country. This only matters to DVD players and is mostly a problem in North America where DVD players are very strict about which format they can play. Although you can mail order DVD players without the NTSC/PAL and Region Code restrictions. PCs can play either format!!!
3) Copy Protection EncryptionThe video on some DVDs are encoded with an encryption protocol. This is mostly used to prevent copying of DVDs with Hollywood movies and TV shows. The Queen DVDs that I have DO have the CSS encryption protection! This does not prevent the DVD from being played in a DVD player or on a PC. It just prevents copying of the disk, but there are ways around many of the encryption protocols. HOW TO PLAY DVDS ON ANY PC!!!1) VLC Media PlayerAs someone else pointed out, the VLC Media Player software does not care about region code and will play a DVD with any region code. It will also play both NTSC and PAL formated DVDs. VLC Media Player is available for Windows, Mac, Linux computers and also for Android and Apple phones & tables. VLC Media Player will also play just about any video or audio format including MVS and TS video files and FLAC audio files, all of which have been used for QAL video/audio from fans. VLC Media Player is my go to audio/video player!!!!! I highly recommend it!!www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html 2) AnyDVD HDAnyDVD HD is a Windows based application that removes restrictions of DVD and Blu-ray media automatically in the background. It allows the Region Code restriction to be bypassed. It also allows bypassing of many of the encryption encodings on DVDs. www.redfox.bz/en/anydvdhd.html 3) Copy video files to PCThe region code is implemented by setting a single byte on the DVD disk. It is NOT embedded within the video files on the DVD. This is important because the video files can be copied off of the DVD onto your computer and then the region code does not matter. However, if the DVD has copy protection, then you need to have AnyDVD HD running during the file copy. It is really very simple and just involves renaming the file extension from VOB to MPG. Then the files can be played in any media player. I can give instructions to anyone who wants to go to try this.
