I am literally shocked that that song was the biggest hit of any year. I don't hear anything special. It is just because it's Spanish? For me Despacito is one of the hottest songs to dance or Zumba or work out to. I really like the Latin vibe and I loved the song instantly, but strangely enough until just now I never cared enough to learn about the artist behind the song. Not that I want to plug this guy as Judas at all - my fingers are still firmly crossed for Adam - but on the upside I am happy about an "All American" success story that will hopefully continue to put a spotlight on Puerto Rico This guy, just like Adam, has been singing all his life btw. I actually have no problem with the singer, but I am going to agree with nica in that " to me it sounds as a gazillion of other songs with Latin dance rhythm...it is "typical" - pleasant and dancy."
I actually have no problem with Latin music but my tastes veer more toward old-school Santana (if that is considered Latin).

I’ve read articles about how long a listener gives a song to catch their interest before they skip it. A few years back it was around 14 seconds, I expect it is even shorter now. Shady was one of the few songs Adam has put out that had that immediate hooking potential. Evil In the Night is another. Also I think TOH had it.There is a lot of research in this area -- here's one. "If you look back historically, technological changes have likely shaped the way people compose and listen to music for a long time . . . the compact disc brought along an ease of skipping that was leaps and bounds ahead of vinyl or cassette tapes. We're operating in an 'attention economy,' and attention is scarce and valuable."
Link: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1029864917698010
In 2014, one quarter of songs were skipped after 4 seconds. www.theguardian.com/music/2014/may/07/one-quarter-of-spotify-tracks-are-skipped-in-first-five-seconds-study-reveals
Here's a chart of Spotify song skipping.
Back in 2014, nearly 50 percent of music listeners skipped a song before it ended.
Wonder if we will eventually have 90-seccond singlettes? Q3, if you think TOH had it, what are your thoughts on why it didn't catch on in Australia where it was actually released as a single. And they really like him over there. Do you think Fever had it? I think it was Michelle Collins who said she thought it could be a hit from the first few notes.

If he has the gig and his change in management is causing a significant delay in announcements and promotion, while maybe unavoidable, that would NOT be a good thing for Adam professionally. There is too much at stake with these productions to be the sticky wheel, that’s how artists get labeled as difficult to work with or divas, deserved or not. I truly hope the management issue is not a factor one way or the other. Wow that's quite a leap.. First build a castle in the sky and then live in it..Just to add I would take a guess that Adam is the least difficult person to work with,IMHO ,he's quite the team player. Everybody who works with him seems to love him.. He's the NICE guy. Maybe he never left his management ,folks just didn't see his name and guessed.. We fans truly no less than nothing. Speaking of leaps... a management company takes down one of only four clients and it means nothing? Seriously? And nowhere have I said Adam the person is not easy to work with...I am talking about potentially his participation holding up announcements due to management or contract negotiations. Totally two different things.

Ooops, I missed P!NK singing. Saw on Twitter she came in a little under the 2 minute mark in length of the song. I'll have to watch a reply.

I doubt anyone would label Adam difficult to work with. We don't even know if he is in the mix for anyone to think he is difficult. They must deal with management and delays all the time in this industry tho, if he even has the part. I remember tho when fans would label him inconsiderate when he was late for a performance. Only to find out later, he was held up backstage giving interviews at the request of the radio station putting on the concert. And how presumptuous would he look tweeting that he does not have a part that only we thought he had. And we thought he had it not based on him saying he went for it, but because we thought he gave "hints" that proved he did. The media would love that, Lambert turned down in favor of_____. He does not need publicity about failing to get a role just to satisfy our need to know. And I would love to know as well but not if it brings negative publicity to Adam. Adam or TPTB will tell us when they are ready, if and when he has it.

Totally two different things. Your reasoning is anything but a leap to me, Gracie, in fact it's the only explanation that makes any sense in terms of what we know of the story so far. PS, I'm well impressed with your measured response to a member who didn't read your original post properly before responding. I was indignant on your behalf!

I can’t shake something i have had in the back of my head about John. Did you see that his is the only photo used in today’s commercial. What if he insisted on a certain promo timeline with only Jesus & not Judas?
