So I tuned in after seeing Adam's tweet and when I heard James D. sing my first thought was that it sounded like there was some kind of special effects on the mic. Cassie, Kandie? Am I just being crazy or could this be part of the new more polished Idol? It's also interesting to see everyone working the stage and getting the "Adam" treatment with stage production. They are all getting coached this year and Adam still worked the stage and had cooler production without all the help. I liked Casey the best so far but missed everyone before James. I'm missing Simon too, some of those performances needed a dose of reality, the judges are over praising mediocre performances, and failing to call out bad ones. Went back and replayed Jame's performance. Sigh. The things I do for this forum. : You are correct. They really tweaked the mic settings to add a lot of reverb to his voice. Nothing wrong with that. Adam does that a lot in concert, too. But, with James, I suspect it was to minimize some of that brittleness in his voice, and make it a bit richer. Didn't work well enough for me.

Agree with Cassie. I watched the live feed since I am Pacific time zone. My gut reaction was that I wished some would hurry up and get it over with, have written down my picks for who will not be moving forward and yes, it is pretty boring. No one reached out and sang with a voice that said "hear me - you will want more".

Okay, been out of lurking for a couple days--what Adam tweet? Did he comment on James Durbin. I don't want to criticize a guy who has a condition, but after liking him a lot at first, I'm finding that he does fall short of the Adamness quotient. So, did Adam Tweet about James? Here is his tweet: adamlambert Adam Lambert I dunno about you guys but I'm favor of more original vocalists on Idol... That have their own sound going on. Up to interpretation as to whether he meant he wasn't hearing anyone original or he was and liked it.....

Don't forget this is only the first night. Will James and Jacob have any versatility? Somehow, I think not. While I love Jacob, right now, if he does this every single week, I know I will grow tired of it. nobody44, to answer your question, No, Adam, has not tweeted anything about James.

You don't think Jacob brought. His voice was so beautiful and the way he sang his song made me cry. He was incredible. Casey was amazing.

I guess I'm not truly bored. At least not as bored as that "fan" that intimated that Adam wasn't working as hard as *cough* some others. Mind-boggling to say the least. There are videos that I've wanted to watch again so now's the time. And maybe I'll give Pandora a listen. Since I'm new and not here on a regular basis I didn't want to comment but have seen 2 people in particular who make me laugh because they are so contrary about everything. One in particular who never seems in a good mood which is funny because this is usually a happy place. I think it is great Adam is supposedly working on # 2 in Denver and I think it's cool that he has been found yet not bothered a lot. If he wants inspiration - John Denverish inspiration- there is an area called Evergreen that is on the side of the mountain and is as beautiful as it can get when there is not an ocean in sight. It's my opinion that Adam should have balance and not be criticized for taking time to live his life along with doing his creating. Too many people die with success on paper but so many things left undone. I hope Adam never has to look back and think that joy was put on the back burner for the job.

I looked up the tweet about originality. Hmm. Cryptic. It could be that he is aware of the all the "different" and unique singers on Idol this year and appreciates that. Or it could mean that James is not being very original. I have no opinion either way. Just had to check in to see how people are reacting to a new year of Idol. Anything would be better than last year's "shoe gazers." LOL. Carry on. Back to lurking. Okay, been out of lurking for a couple days--what Adam tweet? Did he comment on James Durbin. Q3, I was moved by your account of your speech. Adam and this fandom have inspired us in many ways. I think his own joy and confidence and positivity infect us all. What a life affirming man he is!
