I don't think that theatrical is an insult. It's just different and for me it tends to belong on the stage, but not always. We all have our preferences, probably based on setting and mood and the song itself. I do really like pulled back emotive Adam, but then again I absolutely loved his last totally OTT "Witch Hunt' show in Vegas!! That was almost two years ago. Oh, I like the pulled back songs also. I was just talking about Simon using theatrical as a veiled insult...that's definitely how he used it, especially during Adam's audition. You are right, there was definitely an undertone of negativity coming from Simon, especially during the audition. Couldn't believe how he dismissed ROF. He sure came around over time. Sort of.

He certainly was complimentary of Adam, nearly gushing, in the documentary. I also remember him doing an interview with somebody (can't remember who) where he said that Adam was his favorite or the most talented or some such thing. This was years ago.

And Simon also said Adam was going to be a world star (or something like that) after he performed "Tracks of My Tears." Simon also did not care for country music but said Carrie was going to be the most successful Idol. He was correct on both accounts. Simon may have thought Adam was too theatrical during the audition but Adam soon became a favorite of his. And I think Simon was the most disappointed when Adam did not win. Adam did not suffer for not winning but he could have changed the face of Idol, for the better, if he had won.

When Adam sang Chandelier at the AGT (Is that right?) he said Adam was truly the nicest person he had ever met in show business and congratulated him on his success. I think Simon came around. I think he came around during idol, he had made a couple of comments about how he thought Adam would win on other interviews. No one can deny Adam's talent, no matter what they think of his lifestyle. He is just too damn talented.

Simon said that Adam would be an "international star", and I think he wasn't wrong with the prediction. I agree that Simon came around to fully embrace Adam and he showed his disappointment about Adam not winning the most. I remember how he urged audiences to vote for Adam to make it into the finals. Not sure why I commented with "sort of" in terms of Simon coming around. Will edit that now.

lol, first I noticed that Pharaoh had his own account. Now I'll be a Debbie Downer for a bit as I start to wonder (I know some of you know) how old Pharoah is. Back in 2017 I saw my own version of Pharaoh running down the road in front of our house (more chihuahua less Basenji). Nobody ever claimed him so we had our first "little" dog and I never told my family of the connection . Anyway my little one passed on a few months ago (he was middle age when we got him, we think) and so now pictures of Pharoah are bittersweet but also worrisome. Dogs just don't have long enough lives.
