Adam mention. sdnews.com/view/full_story/18280186/article-Showcase-to-boost-local-music-exposure-on-Web-?instance=sdnews_ane_pageShowcase to boost local music exposure on Webby Bart Mendoza While at the moment most of the artists fall into the up-and-coming category of performers, Stevens has his sights set higher, aiming for national and international acts — especially those that are San Diego-linked. Names to watch for on future episodes include Ocean Beach-based Slightly Stoopid and members of Switchfoot. “I’d really like to get Adam Lambert. We’re talking to his people now,” Stevens said. “I’m in pursuit of more of that sort of act. I’m trying to tie in the fact that there are a lot of great musicians on the radio that got their start on the stages of this town. It’s my dream to have someone like Jason Mraz on the show. He’s done so much to help the music community around the world and is an amazing, dynamic person who gives a darn, so it excites me to think about that happening.”

Since I do not follow pop music, could someone tell me..... these high numbers on the charts for Trespassing... is that normal for pre-sales of albums? Or normal for just the biggest names? Or unusual, period? I am pleased to see the numbers. Will all these pre-sales be counted on the first week his album drops? Thanks for the tutoring. Yes, it is normal for an album by an artist with an established fanbase. But a strong presale is vital to the success of this album. ---- Trespassing Deluxe on iTunes in the most important because it is the biggest share -- and the next few days will tell the story -- does it continue to stay in the Top 30 or is this just core fans buying and then it drops back down. But with a month to go -- the promotional build is nice, really nice AND just maybe if the universe smiles, NCOE will be a hit. >>I expected that Special Edition album to be sold out quickly -- only 100 units is not much in Adam fan land -- but this fast sellout is also a good sign.<< ETA: AND NCOE IS HEADED TO PASS BTIKM IN SALES RAPIDLY IF IT CONTINUES TO BUILD THE WAY IT IS. This is the best of all the news. It is easiest to kick off a new album with a song on the radio and selling on iTunes. It is too high for the purchases to just be from the "core OTT buy everything Adam" fans. (Not like I know any of those types. ) I asked this earlier and didn't get a reply, so trying again. Is there any way to gift Trespassing Deluxe on iTunes? I couldn't find any place on iTunes to do that..

Tigerlily, you are right, especially actors in the US seem to be very talented and well-trained - even here we have some actors that are good singers. Unfortunately, I was disappointed too many times in a short period of time and decided I rather go to concerts. Music is closer to my heart anyway.

But come to think of it...and I CAN'T think of it How do cashiers or whomever address people in the north if it's not with the term "ma'am"? "Hey you?" "buddy?" "Babe"?....I'm going to have to pay more attention. Unfortunately, here in California, they have taken to addressing everyone by their first name ... I find it offensive when a 20-year-old cashier calls me Karen! >:( Maybe that's just me, but I prefer to save my first name for friends and family ... "Ms.____" is just fine for people I do business with ... I know we went way OT but this ma'am discussion ended up being really interesting to me. It seems to me that the use of ma'am and sir, when presumed to be non-ageist polite forms of address, solve a multitude of problems. Including the whole first name conundrum. Karen, your post reminded me of my mom! She was sweet and hardly ever took offense at anything, but I'll always remember an incident at a restaurant when my mom was about 70. The waiter was about 20 -- he brought back the credit card and said cheerily, "THANKS MARIAN!" Boy did he get a black look.

Boy did he get a black look. ;D ;D ;D Your story reminds me of one about my mom, who's a wonderful, warm, laid-back woman, but as German who's lived in the US for almost 50 years finds all this American first-name business pretty suspect . I mean, she knows it's just custom, and rolls with it, but it still seems a bit weird to her. And she tells a story that she was once in a doctor's office (years ago) and when the nurse left after taking her vitals, she left my mom's chart behind. Curious, my mom glanced at it and saw, scrawled firmly on the page, the handwritten note: "Prefers to be called by her Last Name!!" ;D ;D ;D I guess they picked up on her discomfort. Made her laugh.

So one last question ... those of you who live in the land of no-ma'am/no-sir ... how do you address people, or do you simply not address them at all?
Example:
Suppose I am getting ready to attend an Adam Lambert concert in a few hours. I stop by the International House of Pancakes to stoke up with some carbs and as I'm enjoying my coffee, I see a Glambert leaving. As she leaves her tickets fall out of her purse.
I would run after her screaming "Ma'am! Ma'am! Wait! Wait! You dropped something!"
You?
