mszue, interesting comments about his appearance. I, too, live in an area where there are lots of artists, although I am not one. There is an artist "colony" on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine and many artists here on the mainland. As you say, many look/dress different from the average person around. However, I know many who blend in visually with no outside clues of "artistic tendencies." One violist I know is a fabulous artist and makes his living from it. Double whammy--art and music. He should be very funky looking, but normal as can be. You guys come in all styles.

Hi Moon Gardeners -
Haven't posted here for awhile, but just had a little something I wanted to share on this site. So here it is. As I have posted here before I have an 18-year-old autistic grandson who lives with me, and he has a friend, a girl who was in the same special ed class in high school, and their friendship has continued beyond high school. Anyway, she was over here the other day and my grandson happened to mention Adam, and she said - "Oh, Adam Lambert - I just love him!" Well, that started us off. and we were high-fiving, hugging each other, and blabbing away about Adam - an unexpected fellow Glambert!
I'm thinking that if and when Adam ever comes to our nearby area, I might see if she'd like to come to an Adam concert with me. There is no way I can afford the GLAAD awards in SF in May (although I'm so happy and proud for Adam), but something may come up in the future. (I just recently shot my wad booking for the Del Mar concert in early July, so that will have to hold me for awhile. My RL situation is still with me, but should be resolved within the next few weeks - so the San Diego gig will be my reward to myself for having held on so long on this. Everyone in my family said - "Go for it! He makes you happy!" - and that he does.)
Finally, for anyone thinking about going to a gay pride festival whether in Miami Beach, Pittsburgh, or wherever - do it! I took my teen-age grand-daughter and her friend to Gay Pride in San Francisco last summer and it was such a joyous loving fun event - and I'm going to do it again this summer.

Just popping in to second your comment re attending Pride parades, Annala. I have walked in our local Pride parade [with Raging Grannies and/or Voice of Women] and it is just a blast. This is recognized as a very "gay friendly" island and the Pride parade is the largest of the year here....beats Canada Day lol. A quarter of the island is in the parade I think...very loud, colourful, supportive, loud and fun! I would love to attend a really big one such as I would expect the San Francisco one is!

I am really really glad Moongarden is here. I need to say this. I've been following the discussion on the news from Flordia with interest. But... one thing that has given me a start are the tweets I see calling the publisher a "cunt". No one seems to taking exception to women eating their young, or at least as I see it. But then I came out of the womb as a feminist. misogynist-language to a bigot ( as we see it) seems to be the sadist irony of them all. Opinions? finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/2008/05/16/feminism-friday-on-bitch-and-other-misogynist-language/

I see it the same way, grandduchess. Along with Mr. Kent's original article and demeaning ageist tweets directed by fans at other fans on twitter, it's been quite a day for self-hatred.
I'm aware of the arguments that this word should be reclaimed and used to empower and all that ... it may have its roots in something interesting, some ancient goddess or the like. Well ... in my lifetime it's been used like the word nigger, or faggot. I can't say I've seen it used other than to shock and demean and devalue. It's a hate filled word that makes people feel small.
Words matter. When people use cunt as the worst insult they can think of, it seems degrading to all women and a step backward. I feel the same way about the widespread use of the word douche or douchebag.
For the record -- though it doesn't pack the same punch due to the differences in men's and women's status -- I'm not fond of the word dick as an insult either. Prick has a certain swashbuckling quality to it, but dick is nothing but mean-spirited.
