That's about right!
I'm sorry I actually forgot to address those rumors. Yeah they were flying but I think they are incorrect.
It started when Psy said in the press that he cried when Brian May had talked to him about doing a remake.
From there it all snowballed into Queen was going to be recording a remake album with modern singers, etc.
I guess you can factor in the twitter thing you knew about when Brian said he was "still very much in contact with Adam".
But to me, I call bullshit. I think it's FAR more likely that Brian was talking to Psy about being on the new Kerry Ellis album than a new Queen album.
Here's why. Brian's followup quote was that he did talk to Psy. Psy loved the Kissing Me Song and loved Kerry Ellis so who knows.
On Kerry's first album she covered a few Queen songs. On the latest tour, a few more. So logically....I think Brian talked to Psy about doing a remake of a Queen song on Kerry's new album.
Adam too? Maybe...but I think that's something else entirely....I still think that would be about doing a few more dates on a mini-tour of sorts...or perhaps Brian guesting on Adam's next album or something.

Thanks, talon! Sounds like the usual thing where one little tiny piece of information was spun into an elaborate fantasy. Thanks for letting us know the scoop.

The Miracle
Written by Freddie Mercury (Lyrics might be all of them but Brian has since consistently called it a Freddie piece)
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, piano, synthesizer Brian May - guitars, backing vocals John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums, backing vocals
- Issued as a single in the UK where it hit #21. It also hit #20 in the Netherlands.
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSIONS:
VIDEO VERSION
- ESSENTIAL if only because the video. - Slightly longer fade - The band is replaced by four young actors. The "Freddie" is Ross McCall who would go onto fame in HBO's Band of Brothers. Freddie would later quip that they should send these guys out on tour in place of the band themselves.
GREATEST HITS II VERSION
- NOT ESSENTIAL, merely a quicker fade
CLASSIC QUEEN EDIT - NOT ESSENTIAL. It actually takes out one of my favorite sections, the jarring rock section towards the end is completely excised.
UNRELEASED VERSIONS:
DEMO EXTRACT
- NOT ESSENTIAL but interesting. It is a different Freddie vocal take but nothing very special.
COHEN-JIYA MIX NO YT VID - in fact, I haven't heard it - Reportedly a Hollywood remix that went unused.
PERSONAL NOTES: To me a real underrated gem that is fully Queen. Temp shifts, full orchestration, great vocals. What else could you want? I'm not sure why this was kind of forgotten about all these years later. But one of my favs on the album.
Next up? The song that survived....I Want It All

Thanks, talon! Sounds like the usual thing where one little tiny piece of information was spun into an elaborate fantasy. Thanks for letting us know the scoop. No problem! I do think the first thing we will hear about in the coming weeks/month is Roger's solo album which makes me excited! Brian's live album will be after that and that could be nice too...especially if they include Brian doing Good Company

I Want It All
Written by: Brian May (May has claimed this one and played it at his solo gigs (always a good indication)
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals Brian May - lead and backing vocals, guitars, drum programming (?) John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums, drum programming (?), backing vocals David Richards - keyboard programming
(even though it's labeled extended...it's actually the album version)
- One of the few times the album version is significantly different than the single mix. The track starts out not with the chorus but with guitar. - Played live for the first time at the Freddie Tribute with Roger Daltrey singing and Tony Iommi on guest guitar. Brian also included part of it in his 1998 solo tour and then revived it for QPR and QAL.
QUOTES: "'I Want It All' reestablishes our old image in a way. It's nice to come back with something strong. Something that reminds people we're a live group. I don't think we're a singles band, really. Just before we put the single out I started listening to what's on the radio, and the kind of stuff that becomes a hit these days bears no resemblance to what we do. People only remember the hits, but I suppose we have done okay." - Brian May - 1989
"We were heading into the period where we decided to share the credit for all the songs, and John has said that [the song] was pretty much a finished song when we went into the studios – that's true, it was just this riff that I was obsessed with for months. The actual title was a favorite phrase of Anita's, a very ambitious girl: 'I want it all, and I want it now '... We were never able to perform this song live. It would have become something of the staple core of the Queen show, I'm sure, very participatory. It was designed for the audience to sing along to, very anthemic." - Brian May - 2003
"Interesting, I wrote myself a bit in the middle. I can't remember quite why that was, it's a very sort of Pete Townshend thing to do, isn't it? But it made a nice little kind of duet in the middle, a bit of spying between me and Freddie, and I know he enjoyed that." - Brian May – 2003
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSIONS:
SINGLE VERSION
-ESSENTIAL - Also the video. This is the first video that we see that Freddie is starting his decline. You don't see much but he is already skinnier than he had been. - This is the well known version that begins with the chorus
HOLLYWOOD VERSION NO YT VID - NOT ESSENTIAL but interesting. - Because Hollywood Records was presented the wrong masters for this track for their 1991 remaster, we got a unique version of the track. There is a missing chorus, added backing vocals, less prominet synth in places, some more guitar. So it is quite interesting.
ARGENTINIAN EDIT NO YT VID - NOT ESSENTIAL - Edits a bit further down chopping off part of the instrumental section - quite noticeably.
ROCKS MIX
- ESSENTIAL - Probably the best of the mixes. This combines the single edit with the album version adding a bit more guitar in the middle to the single version. It works quite well and imo if you had to pick one...this would be it.
LIVE AT WEMBLEY 1992 - w/ROGER DALTREY/TONY IOMMI
- Not a bad first version! Roger Daltrey was one of the better ones of the night just by sheer charisma. Great backing vocals by Chris Thompson
QPR - RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS
- One of the songs that fit Paul's voice best. It was one of the highlights of QPR.
QPR - LIVE IN UKRAINE
- Interesting in that for the first time the band used the album version
UNRELEASED VERSIONS
DEMO VERSION
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Mostly the same lyrics, a different vocal take but not that different and only a bit
INSTRUMENTAL DEMO
- Long instrumental demo, adds some bits of Chinese Torture
BRIAN MAY LIVE IN 1998 - BUDAPEST
- As part of a big medley with a bunch of Queen songs...couldn't find a single solitary version.
QAL - LIVE IN LONDON 2012
- I chose London because the band screwed up the beginning in Kiev (which obviously had the best video source). - Adam does this well.
PERSONAL NOTES: One of my favs of all time. I don't know why but I really don't get bored of this track. It always works quite well on stage.

The Invisible Man
Written by Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead vocals Brian May - guitars John Deacon - bass guitar, rhythm guitar (?) Roger Taylor - lead and backing vocals, drums, keyboards, rhythm guitar (?) David Richards - keyboards (?)
- Issued as a single backed with ‘Hijack My Heart’ in August 1989 in the UK (where it hit #12). Issued as a single backed with ‘Hijack My Heart’ in August 1989 in Austria, Australia (where it did not chart), Germany, The Netherlands (where it hit #4), Italy, Philippines, and Spain.
- Danny Phantom creator Butch Hartman acknowledged that it was the inspiration behind the shows theme song.
QUOTES
"I’m to blame for that one, sort of, but then everyone came in, and that went through quite a few changes due to everybody else putting in different bits and restructuring it, etc. etc. I don’t quite remember where the idea did come from. I think it came from a book I was reading, and it just seemed to fit in with a rhythmic pattern I had in mind." - Roger Taylor – 1989
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSIONS:
12" EXTENDED
- NOT ESSENTIAL but very nice - Completely different intro, it takes out the band member introductions. An interesting take but ultimately not as good as the original
VIDEO VERSION
- NOT ESSENTIAL but a nice video - A mix between the 12" version and the original. It has the same intro as the 12" but includes the band introductions.
EARLY VERSION WITH GUIDE VOCAL
- ESSENTIAL! - Roger sings lead vocal on this take with some input from Freddie but all in all this is Roger's take. A great version to be honest, including a deleted bit that should have stayed!
UNRELEASED VERSIONS:
EARLY TAKE NO YT VID - A bit different than the released version with some alternate vocals
DEMO - A bit more different but still along the same lines as the previous take
FAN CLUB MESSAGE NO YT VID - NOT ESSENTIAL but fun - In the 80s, the band would often give a musical message to the convention goers. This particular one was to the Invisible Man backing.
PERSONAL NOTES: - A ton of fun. Just a fun dancy rock song. Great guitar work in the middle by Brian and I loved the campy band intro. Thumbs up. Next? One of my favs on the album with a great video...Breakthru

Breakthru
Written by: Freddie Mercury/Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, piano, keyboards Brian May - guitars, backing vocals John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums, backing vocals, keyboards, drum programming David Richards - programming, keyboards
- Issued as a single backed with ‘Stealin’’ in June 1989 in the UK (where it hit #7). Issued as a single backed with ’Stealin’’in June 1989 in Australia (where it hit #59), Canada, Germany, The Netherlands (where it hit #4), Italy, and Portugal.
- The co-writing credit comes because It was actually two songs glued together. The opening ballad section is a Freddie song and the rest of the rock driven number was Roger's.
- The woman in the video is Roger's (then) future girlfriend.
QUOTES:
"It's the prime example what we were talking about before, I mean, the track 'Breakthru' sort of stemmed from Roger, really, it's basically his track. But the sort of a capella vocal bit in front was from someone else, as we've said: we have 30 tracks, and that was a little piece that I thought was quite good, and I didn't want it to go amiss, and I just said, 'Oh, well, we’ll just put it in front of "Breakthru".' It’s basically another song, sort of seem to go quite nicely, so, we just snipped it." - Freddie Mercury - 1989
"I very much like the track, this is a Roger track, full of energy, and the track speaking lyrically is about breaking through to the next part of your life. And on another level, it’s just a nice bit of fun." - Brian May – 2003
“The song actually ended up more complicated than I wanted it. I think the others wanted to put a key change in – I really hate key changes usually and that’s not one of my favorite key changes – but I think this song should have been kept simpler and it was just slightly over-arranged in the end, but it kept everyone else happy.” – Roger Taylor
ALTERNATIVE RELEASED VERSIONS:
12" EXTENDED VERSION
- ESSENTIAL - This one actually really works - It loses the Freddie ballad intro, but adds some great power chords from Brian. It makes it a really rocking song.
NOW EDIT
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Basically the album version without the Freddie intro.
ALMOST NOW EDIT
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Retains some of the intro but not all of it.
PERSONAL NOTES: - One of my favs. Both the album version and the 12". Just a fun driving song. Real rocking tune. One of the best on the album. I had been hoping Adam would do this one since it never has seen the light of day live...
Next? John Deacon's goes a bit Caribbean...Rain Must Fall

Rain Must Fall
Written by: John Deacon
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, keyboards Brian May - guitars John Deacon - bass guitar, rhythm guitar, keyboards Roger Taylor - drums, electronic drums David Richards - drum programming
- Believed to be a John composition due to the nature of the track. John previously wrote Who Needs You which ventured into this field a bit before. It's also a very poppy track which is usually John.
QUOTES:
"Yes, that's a sort of, a bit of, a mix job. It's quite machine-like in some ways. There's a lot of percussion on top that I did on that, but they made me take most of that to make room for guitars and the vocals." - Roger Taylor - 1989
UNRELEASED VERSIONS
DEMO VERSION NO YT VID - NOT ESSENTIAL but nice - It appears that it has a bit of the more percussion that Roger was talking about.
PERSONAL NOTES: Not my favorite track, and not a well liked track in general by Queen fans. I don't think it's bad. It's kind of cute and fun in it's way. But I don't choose to listen to it very much.

Scandal
Written by: Brian May
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals Brian May - guitars, keyboards John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums, vibraslap David Richards - sampler
- Issued as a single backed with ‘My Life Has Been Saved’, ‘Hijack My Heart’, and ‘Stealin’ in October 1989 in the US (where it did not chart) and in the UK (where it hit #25). Issued as a single backed with ‘My Life Has Been Saved’ in 1989 in Austria, Australia (where it did not chart), France, Germany, Guatemala, and The Netherlands (where it hit #16). Issued as a promo in 1989 in Mexico and Brazil.
- It has been cited as an underrated gem by many a Queen fan.
QUOTES:
“It’s something which has affected us, individually, as members of the group recently. It’s very strange, ‘cause we were fairly famous for a long time in England, you know, the last fifteen years or whatever, but we didn’t become a prey to these kind of scummy papers until recently. And it’s not related to what you are doing, you know. They are not interested in what music you play or anything. They just want the dirt, and if they can’t find any they’ll invent it if they choose to pick on you. So we were all going through a lot of changes in our lives and suddenly it became a big problem, you know, in a similar way…you’ve heard about what they did to Elton, you know? These sort of stories about Elton and everything, which he sued them for and got a million quid off ‘em. You know, great. Well they did very similar to things to me particularly, and to a certain extent to Roger, and Freddie also had been through a little while before. But this thing is total..you know, steam in and destroy someone’s life. They really are the scum of the earth. You can’t exaggerate it too much.” – Brian May – Hard ‘n’ Heavy – 1989
"I have kept the first take, as Freddie did for the vocals. In one evening, the song was finished, because we couldn't do a better take." - Brian May - 1989
"This is something from me, obviously. The idea for this song happened in the studio, but thematically, it's very close to all of our hearts – particularly Freddie and particularly me, and a little later, Roger, as we were pursued by the media to a destructive point. It was very painful, we did get very hurt – these paparazzi invading our lives. There's money to be made trashing peoples' lives in newspapers, and it's probably never going to change in England." - Brian May - 2003
"Not one of my favorite songs, one of the most boring videos we ever made. Don't remember much about it, I just remember being bored. Didn't do anything for me, and for something called 'Scandal', it wasn't very scandalous. I think we were going through the motions here." - Roger Taylor - 2003
"For me, it was a pretty serious song – not serious in the sense that I think it's that great (laughs), but in that there was a lot of reality in the lyrics for me... I don't think it's totally successful, this video, as a portrayal of what's in the song. It's a kind of brave attempt, but it's a little cold, and you don't really see the band interacting as a band. It's a bit stagey. But at least it makes you think of what the song's really about." - Brian May – 2003
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSIONS:
12" EXTENDED
- NOT ESSENTIAL but nice. - Features a heavier bit of guitars/vocals and additional keyboards along with an intro.
UNRELEASED VERSIONS:
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Not much different but obviously a bit earlier in the process as far as mix and levels go. No significant alteration however.
PERSONAL NOTES: - I agree that it is an underrated gem. I rarely seek it out but when I hear it, I wonder why I don't more often...
Next up? Freddie and John get really laid back and cool with a small slice of slow funk in another underrated tune, My Baby Does Me

My Baby Does Me
Written by Freddie Mercury/John Deacon
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, keyboards Brian May - guitars John Deacon - bass guitar, keyboards David Richards - drum programming
- Initially titled My Baby Loves Me
QUOTE
"That song stemmed from John and myself... I seem to remember I wanted something a little more relaxed than the way the other songs were getting. I felt that we didn't have something that was a little more clearheaded, and not too involved. And so we decided we should have something very easy, very listenable." - Freddie Mercury - 1989
UNRELEASED VERSIONS
- NOT ESSENTIAL - Not much different. *NOTE - I was at work and couldn't listen to the video. I apologize if it is actually the original song that someone just titled wrong*
PERSONAL NOTES:
I love this track. It's just what the album needed, a nice slice of laid back funk that is somewhat sexy and somewhat loving.
Next up? My favorite track of the album. What was thought possibly *MIGHT* be the last Queen track. Freddie asks...Was It All Worth It
