I do not think Kelly's lack of collaborators is because of Idol. I think she is terrific and she is certainly commercially successful, but that is different than being a perfect collaborator. I think it may be a lack of fit. 1. Kelly is pop-rock with pretty much no edge. So eliminated any alt, contemporary rock, hip hop, dance, pure pop, R&B, rap artists. That pretty much leave country collaborators and that is really competitive. 2. Kelly's fans are no longer that attractive as music buyers. She won Idol almost 14 years ago. Her fans are now not prime music-buying age. 3. I had seen her live a couple of times, and she is a very good singer but lacks stage presence. I have a similar reaction to her on TV. JMHO there are many singers who could hold their own with Kelly on a recording. Kelly is excellent but she is not the only good singer out there. But I actually cannot think of a great collaborator for Kelly. ETA: She also has earned a reputation of being very difficult to work with. It may or may not be true. Q3 I was a Kelly stan before I was an Adam stan I just have to say your post made me seriously laugh. 1. Kelly has collaborated with Reba McEntire and Jason Aldean and she had pretty big hits with both. She's also collaborated live with Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Rascal Flatts, and probably some others I am forgetting. She has sung live with EnVogue, John Legend, and Adam Levine. Kelly doesn't need "edge" because she's got the voice. 2. Kelly fanbase goes so far beyond idol and her winning idol is a long forgotten piece of history. and because I've seen Kelly in concert I can tell you that her U.S. fanbase skews younger than Adam's does. Kelly makes pop music which gets played on Top 40/Hot AC radio. Her music buying base is exactly what an artist wants because she actually still has pretty decent sales (her last album sold over a million copies and won the Grammy for best pop vocal album). 3. that's a matter of opinion. She has improved over the years but I always found her to be quite entertaining on stage and her personality is one of the main reasons (besides her voice) that she won idol. She is down to earth and funny. as for the supposed "reputation" she has earned that is one rumor I have never heard about Kelly and I've been a fan since the first time she stepped on the idol stage. I know there are fans of other idols who like to say she's a nasty person but I've never read even one thing about her being nasty and radio djs and other media outlets seem to love her. I am also a Kelly fan. She is the one who said no one but John Legend would collaborate with her -- not me. I was just putting forward a usable explanation. John Legend has collaborated with a long, long list of people. I am glad he collaborated with Kelly but he is as edgy as a tomato slice. On the other collaborations you list -- all are country artists. She performed with EnVogue and Maroon 5 but has not recorded with either (unless I am forgetting something). The only part of this that has any interest to me is IF there is an IDOL STIGMA that will affect ADAM LAMBERT. I do not believe it exists. And I see no evidence that is Kelly's issue.
If you want to comment on the IDOL STIGMA that is Adam related. If you want to comment on Kelly Clarkson, please take it to a Kelly site. I will note my original post accordingly.

I would like Adam to collab with Katy Perry. I know some think pfft she is not even in the same league vocally. But collabs don't always have to be best voices stylistically speaking. Some times different voice styles work the best. And think about the people Adam would be exposed too. Adam actually has tons of younger fans, although he gets the rep of having older fans. His fanbase is very diverse. Katy has 40 or so million followers, although only 17 of those 40 are real people apparently. She has always liked Adam. OR how about a Taylor Swift collab? haha she maybe too vanilla for Adam. Glamcats? haha anyway. As for Kelly she is a good singer, but I don't think people not wanting to collab means she is difficult to work with, maybe people don't mesh with her style e.t.c. I don't know. You've got to be kidding right? Taylor Swift????? Please God NO, NO, and NO. Did you see how bad she was, I think at the Grammy's or one of those award shows when they paired her with Stevie Nicks. It was gawd awful, Taylor could not sing in tune to save her life. I really felt sorry for Stevie, and she kept giving Taylor the side eye, but TS was just oblivious to how off key she was. I don't want her any where near Adam, JMHO! Now Katy is another story, I do think that would be a good collaboration.
Haha well of course I woulden't want them on stage together. But a Studio collab woulden't hurt. I mean she has a massive fanbase, woulden't hurt to expose Adam to that many people. But good we agree on the Katy/Adam collab.

So if they decided to do a quarter or half of WLL just to have fun, how do you think the respond of Queen fans will be?
Oh Queen fans would probably eat that up. Most Queen fans at the very least have a healthy respect for Zep and most of us are flat out fans of Zep too so they'd be just fine with it... I think the rock purists and really core Led Zeppelin fans in the audience might be very critical. Personally, I think WLL is something I hope they do not do. But I can think of other covers that might be better received by the Q+AL audiences.

Watching Idol and Ryan Seacrest mentioned Adam's name and Adam's pick was chosen for the final 24
What happens to that girl Shi (means:beautiful)? I really wanted to know coz, Adam said she's not ready but Harry gave her the golden ticket.

Why are collaborations important to pop singers? Is the main reason expanding one's fan base? Collaborations are used across genres -- not just pop. Very common in Urban/Hip Hop, Country, R&B, Rock, etc. Sometimes it is to expand an artist's fan base or to introduce a new artist. Example: "Bang Bang" with Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. Sometimes it is to create something new and different on it. Examples: "Under Pressure", "Smooth", Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C., “Walk This Way”, Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg "California Gurls"
