Do we know for sure that Adam would have been opening for Demi? I thought it was just speculation. Totally speculation as to what the arrangement would have been. I am still of the mind that the exposure during the advertisement period and during the actual shows would have increased the value of the deal well beyond any speculated monetary differences. He desparately needs a larger, youth oriented fan base IMO, this tour debacle was a huge loss to him in relation to making strides to break big in the US market. But what is done is done, he and his team is moving forward and doing what they can to keep him visible in the US. I think it takes more to "break big in the US market" than opening for or co-touring with a disney star turned pop princess that is about a decade younger than you are. For some reason I can't see how DL's fan base could become a following for Adam. Successful singles and diversifying into different markets may be more important key factors. Looks like things are rolling, and if there's another single that has similar or even greater impact than GT...even better!! I keep saying the same thing over and over again...Adam is one of the very lucky ones and many artists would kill to be in his shoes.

I agree with most of what you wrote (except that I like both Rob Thomas and Shawn Mendes and would stay for them.) But I would be shocked if more than 1% of the Queen fans who saw Adam with Queen bought TOH. If B+R+A put out a new studio album, it would be a bigger seller to Queen fans -- at least there are many posts about want that album. Queen + Adam was a win, win, win. But Adam is not opening for Queen -- he is their frontman -- really different. If Adam had put out a rock album the interest from Queen fans could've been there, but the pop/club-dance album is so out of the typical Queen demo scope that even 1% is a generous estimate imo... Yes, that was sorta my point. Adam is out of the typical Queen demo. I think he is also out of the typical Demi or Shawn demo. I cannot see opening for them generating many new Adam fans. And if Adam cannot make fans out of the Queen demo despite blowing them away as Queen's frontman for two hours, and Queen is known for theatrics and challenging vocals (Adam's strong points), how many fans could he woo with a 30 minute opening set for Demi or Shawn?

When discussing Adam picking up new fans from appearing with other artists, I think about his work with Queen. Huge! Highest profile. Lots of publicity. Endorsement from rock royalty. A repertoire of songs that showed off Adam's voice and performance skills to the nth degree. Adam converted a large majority of Queen/Freddie fans, who now embrace Adam as Queen's frontman, enabling them to continue performing their great music. They embrace Adam as Queen's frontman. Not as a solo pop singer. Yes, there were some folks who fell down the rabbit hole and are now Glamberts. A majority are not. I would be surprised if even 10% of Queen fans attending the shows went out and bought TOH. Adam benefitted from his Queen collaboration in many ways, quantifiable and not. But, I don't think it produced a major influx of Adam Lambert, solo pop top40 artist, fans. Pairing Adam with Demi or Shawn or Rob Thomas seems much less compatible than with Queen. Adam appeals to me in ways that Demi or Shawn or Rob do not. If I went to see Adam open for one of them, I would leave before their set. Just not interested. I would think vice versa would apply. IMHO, YMMV I agree with most of what you wrote (except that I like both Rob Thomas and Shawn Mendes and would stay for them.) But I would be shocked if more than 1% of the Queen fans who saw Adam with Queen bought TOH. If B+R+A put out a new studio album, it would be a bigger seller to Queen fans -- at least there are many posts about want that album. Queen + Adam was a win, win, win. But Adam is not opening for Queen -- he is their frontman -- really different. No clue as to how many fans Adam gained through his QAL shows, but I know there were a LOT of guys at the Auckland show, and I asked my American friend if who was there if she thought there were way more males at Auckland concert then she sees at US shows, and the answer was an emphatic yes!!! I know I saw a lot of "Queen-looking" males fans there, many wearing QAL Tshirts! So I'm deducing that there were some new fans at the show as a result of seeing him with Queen

Of course Adam is hugely successful in the big picture. And he should have some big, fat, juicy top 10 radio hits, too. Why? Because he wants them. That's one of his career goals.

Here is my recap of the Auckland show – a couple of days late due to nursing a sick cat between finding time to spend with friends from out of town visiting for the concert! . Such a pity about the “explosions” I knew straight away it was a sound thing….. but I kept my eyes on Adam, and I was close enough to see it register on his face, but he just continued on. I think the one in TISI was the most disconcerting for him – in a slow, ballad, introspective song, it really was a jolt, and I think it did have an effect on how he performed it. Still it was amazing. Nothing compares to hearing his voice live. Now back to watching streams/videos. Not a clue when I’ll get the chance to see him live again….. I’m guessing it will be a while. So will live on the memory of this concert for some time yet! Thank you so much for your recap, Eri9 . Sounds like you had a great M&G. Re: the 'explosions'...... There were screams from the audience and I did briefly wonder why Adam didn't acknowledge that in some way. But then just yesterday I was watching a video of JessieJ (it just kind of popped up) and she was explaining that when she has her earpieces in on stage, she can't hear the audience - and that's often why she might take one out mid-song - presumably for that connection to the energy. I never thought of that before. So when an audience is going wild for Adam while he's singing, or dancing of late, can he actually hear that, rather than just see it?
