I actually heard the opposite. Maybe it was mutual... Maybe. There are a few reliable reports that Melanie fans crashed towards the stage when she came on and tried to push the Adam fans out of the way. I don't think anything major happened one way or the other.

I agree with most of what you wrote (except that I like both Rob Thomas and Shawn Mendes and would stay for them.) But I would be shocked if more than 1% of the Queen fans who saw Adam with Queen bought TOH. If B+R+A put out a new studio album, it would be a bigger seller to Queen fans -- at least there are many posts about want that album. Queen + Adam was a win, win, win. But Adam is not opening for Queen -- he is their frontman -- really different. No clue as to how many fans Adam gained through his QAL shows, but I know there were a LOT of guys at the Auckland show, and I asked my American friend if who was there if she thought there were way more males at Auckland concert then she sees at US shows, and the answer was an emphatic yes!!! I know I saw a lot of "Queen-looking" males fans there, many wearing QAL Tshirts! So I'm deducing that there were some new fans at the show as a result of seeing him with Queen That's wonderful. The upcoming US shows should be interesting to see. If I see any Queen shirts, I will believe that there are a lot of crossover fans. But US Queen fans are mostly men over 60, so I do not expect that happen here. (Most of the Queen fans are from the 1970's.) What I saw here at the holiday concerts, was a lot of people in their 20's in the audience -- fans of Adam's from Idol who like his new music. They were teen when he was on Idol, now they can go see him live.

Totally speculation as to what the arrangement would have been. I am still of the mind that the exposure during the advertisement period and during the actual shows would have increased the value of the deal well beyond any speculated monetary differences. He desparately needs a larger, youth oriented fan base IMO, this tour debacle was a huge loss to him in relation to making strides to break big in the US market. But what is done is done, he and his team is moving forward and doing what they can to keep him visible in the US. I think it takes more to "break big in the US market" than opening for or co-touring with a disney star turned pop princess that is about a decade younger than you are. For some reason I can't see how DL's fan base could become a following for Adam. Successful singles and diversifying into different markets may be more important key factors. Looks like things are rolling, and if there's another single that has similar or even greater impact than GT...even better!! I keep saying the same thing over and over again...Adam is one of the very lucky ones and many artists would kill to be in his shoes. She is a decade younger. But Adam is closer to Demi's age than he is to mine (54). Maybe (and I am just saying maybe because I am not Adam nor part of his team, both of whom I am sure know more than any of us here do about what it takes - and what is on the table- to break big), maybe they were interested in trying to appeal to some new and younger fans who are top forty radio music listeners?

Great recap Eri9. With all this New Zealand news, I've been wondering about Catzmadam and whether she is still part of the Adam fandom. Anyone know? I still remember a lot of her remarkable stories! She's still very active - mostly on twitter! i travelled with her for QALs in California/Vegas in 2014.....great fun....she was at the Auckland show this week. (Hi Catz ) Good to hear that.

I have no idea how you build a lasting expanded fan base. If I take lessons from businesses in attracting customers part of it is through exposure (you might be the best thing since sliced bread but if I don't know about you doesn't do me a whole lot of good). But it's not just any exposure, because everyone is not your customer. So the trick is to put yourself into the right spotlight not just any spotlight. But a different question - why do people think Adam is not doing well? Sure if you measure it by the unicorns of the music biz (Taylor; Adele etc) he's doing ok but if you measure by the other 99.9999% of musicians out there I'd say he's doing pretty damn well given the highly disposable nature of the music industry these days his 15 minutes should have been up long ago. Instead he's still building his reputation, doing interesting things, being acclaimed for his talent and recognised for being a nice person along with it. All in all I'd say he's doing great and seems pretty damn happy. #stillovethemoo #onemoresleep I think he is doing great. He made $10 million last year, is shopping for a second home, has a major label contract with a label that gets him, is in the midst of another "sold out" world tour, will be headlining Queen for some huge concerts this summer, has a worldwide Oreo jingle, and will be in a perfect role in the remake of RHS. Not shabby and I am sure he has more in the works! >> And why would anyone what him involved with an artist who would pull a stunt like Demi/her manager did? To add one more thing...how many artists have a fan base as devoted and passionate as Adam's? He has real fans that are here for the long haul. I'm in a very celebratory mood lately
