Byron Cooke @Byroncooke 2h @adamlambert fans your reaction to this > http://byroncooke.com/radios-homeless-artists-who-dont-fit-in/ … inspired me to DO SOMETHING about it! #MoveTheNeedle @SlackerRadio
The mainstream music industry LOVES a formula. Before a song “impacts” commercial radio, it’s appeal is assessed by record labels & management in terms of what “format” it is best aimed at. The most popular US contemporary music formats are Top 40 & Rhythmic CHR. Hot AC, Urban & Alternative also add new songs to playlists on a weekly basis. For artists with very clearly defined sounds and audiences this process works beautifully. Rihanna impacts Top 40. The Black Keys new single goes for adds on Alternative. But what about the artists who are harder to categorize? Artists who push boundaries and break rules can find themselves homeless.
... [skipping stuff on other artists]
On the other side of the equation you have another brand of homeless artist – Adam Lambert. Despite his 2nd album Trespassing debuting at no.1 on the US Billboard chart this year, potential singles from his Pharrell Williams produced album can’t find a home amongst the traditional radio formats. Rolling Stone gave it rave reviews – but its too upbeat for a HOT AC station. It’s not “hip” enough for alternative. For whatever reason, its also not quite in the right slot for Top 40.

Maybe it is because I've been kicking myself for a while now. For not having at least told him how much it meant to me to see him in concert and how much I enjoyed it....... he deserves to get so much love from us whenever we get the chance to meet him. Albiku, this reminded me of a conversation from the moon garden, long ago on pg 62, about meeting Adam and how inuitive he is when meeting fans. This is a quote from NIKKI to someone who said they would not be able to face Adam after following him so closely. I thought it was beautiful. And I think his infinity tatoo doesn't just represent shared energy but also shared love between him and his fans. "...when you do finally meet him, and I truly hope you do, I suspect you will look him in the eyes, and you'll glow and smile like you see here, having quickly figured out that he already knows how you feel about him - maybe not the details, but certainly the quality - and that it is perfectly OK with him"

I remember this. After the interview appeared, Adam tweeted that he had been misquoted and that what he said was that he didn't see himself getting married in the near future. The magazine stood by their original quote, but regardless of what words Adam used, he obviously had intended to indicate that marriage was something he wasn't considering at that point in his life but he wasn't ruling out the possibility of getting married someday.

Love Byron (not biased by fact he's Aussie - well not too much).

Danceygeorgia, I believe we will have new music this year. Adam is not touring the US. He feels an urgencey to get new music out. I believe RCA does too. I think brain storming ideas is a great statement. His A&R person could be lining up collaborators right now. He did FYE in 2 1/2 months & still had 5 songs he wrote on it. And it is fabulous! I am kind of expecting album 3 to be eclectic, like FYE was. I loved that interview! It made me so excited for what's to come!

Okay, I've made only one comment regarding this breakup, so far, and I told myself not to get into or involved so I had been pretty much staying off the main thread that is till today, 'cuz I thought the convo might have already shifted towards more... Yes, you "know" and can "read" your xxx inside out, so can I with my xxx; you have many past interviews to prove your POV, so do I; you've heard "stuff" from those so-called inner circle sources or people know those sources, so have I (and probably more legit than yours)....blah blah blah... As Q3's essay put it, we all have our own versions of reality as we see it, but in the end, it don't mean a thing! If believing your own theory or hunch makes their breakup more acceptable, or easier for you to come to terms with, then by all means, stick to your guns! But, I, for one, would like to move on to the important stuff like Adam's hair, Adam's boots, Adam's jewelries, oh, maybe even Adam's music and endeavors. Disclaimer: This post is not meant to make fun of any particular posters, simply an undisciplined act of my own being fed-up with this on-going discussion, which I'm fully aware is well within the guidelines of ATOP. So, I would totally understand should this post be deleted by the mods. Well, I am not going to delete it. I did not read it as a slam against anyone personally, but as your opinion that you have read enough about the breakup, causes, meanings, etc. Cool. Some folks get tired of discussions about the GB in different pictures, others about speculated directions for the new album, still others about the new hair cut or color, etc. etc. We all have topics we scroll past and others we devour. We all take time away from ATop until a particular topic peters out, and other times where we refresh every two minutes to get all the latest news and topics. We all agree that we love the voice, the music, the man. We all agree that we want more news about Adam. We all agree that we enjoy this community of Glamberts. The rest is up for grabs.

I am so hoping for new music for San Diego. I can't get to the gay pride concerts so San Diego may be it for this year. Can only hope for more!
