It would have been very easy for them and would have been much appreciated by the fanbase. I'm guessing Brian is too busy with Kerry and his other projects to "clean up" something that's just a bonus piece. But that's just a guess. Nice setlist though:
Procession, Now I'm Here, Ogre Battle, Great King Rat, White Queen, Flick Of The Wrist, Hangman, Doing All Right, In The Lap Of The Gods, Killer Queen, The March Of The Black Queen, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, Son And Daughter, Keep Yourself Alive, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Stone Cold Crazy, Liar, In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited, Big Spender, Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll, Jailhouse Rock, See What A Fool I've Been, God Save The Queen
Another possible bonus should have been one of the other Hammersmith gigs from the same tour. The XMas gig was broadcast on the BBC which is why it is shortened and has a much lesser setlist - including less A Night At The Opera tracks than had been done...
There is no boots of previous Hammersmith but I'd be surprised if they didn't have the audio...The GENERAL setlist of the tour was:
Intro/Ogre Battle/Sweet Lady/White Queen/Flick of the Wrist/Bohemian Rhapsody/Killer Queen/March of the Black Queen/Bohemian Rhapsody (Reprise)/Bring Back That Leroy Brown/Son And Daughter/The Prophets Song/Stone Cold Crazy/Doin' All Right/Keep Yourself Alive/Seven Seas Of Rhye/Liar/In The Lap Of The Gods...revisited/Now I'm Here/Big Spender/Jailhouse Rock/
And tracks played on the tour so perhaps at Hammersmith's other 5 dates would be:
Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon (Probably not) Modern Times Rock'n'roll See What A Fool I've Been Hangman (either full version or in a "medley" with Modern Times Rock'n'roll) Shake Rattle And Roll Stupid Cupid Be Bop A Lula Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting Father To Son

No idea how to bring tweets over but apparently Brian and Kerry Ellis (and Neil Fairclough!) were in the studio today working on Anthems II - Neil was playing beautifully and Kerry had approved of new tracks...(Here's hoping they were actual new tracks that Brian has written and not just old covers - don't get me wrong I like Brian's re-arrangement of old tracks but I would always prefer hearing a new Brian song if I get the opportunity!

Sorry I'm so touch and go here! Hope all is doing well and getting psyched for the Asian tour! Hoping for another new track or two (But most likely they'll stick with the European Festival setlists...) In the meantime in case those are interested there are two products coming out this year in the Queen camp that you may be interested in...The first was officially announced: Freddie Mercury: Messenger of the GodsThis is an interesting collection of all of Freddie's solo singles from his one Pre-Queen single through the posthumous remix single that got him to #1 in the UK. It will be a big vinyl release as well as on 2 CDs. FREDDIE MERCURY: MESSENGER OF THE GODS – THE SINGLES COLOURED 7” SINGLES VINYL BOX DISC 1 - BLUE (A) I Can Hear Music - Larry Lurex (1973) (B) Goin’ Back – Larry Lurex DISC 2 - ORANGE (A) Love Kills (1984) DISC 3 - YELLOW (A) I Was Born To Love You (1985) (B) Stop All The Fighting DISC 4 - RED (A) Made In Heaven [Single Remix] (1985) (B) She Blows Hot And Cold DISC 5 - WHITE (A) Living On My Own [Single Edit] (1985) (B) My Love Is Dangerous DISC 6 - RED (A) Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow (1985) (B) Let’s Turn It On DISC 7 - CYAN (A) Time (1986) (B) Time [Instrumental] DISC 8 - ORANGE (A) The Great Pretender (1987) (B) Exercises In Free Love [Freddie’s Vocal] DISC 9 - CLEAR (A) Barcelona [Single Version] (1987) (B) Exercises In Free Love [Montserrat’s Vocal] DISC 10 - GOLD (A) The Golden Boy [Single Edit] (1988) (B) The Fallen Priest [B-Side Edit] DISC 11 - GREEN (A) How Can I Go On [Single Version] (1989) (B) Overture Piccante DISC 12 – NEON PINK (A) In My Defence (1992) (B) Love Kills [Wolf Euro Mix] DISC 13 - YELLOW (A) Living On My Own [No More Brothers Radio Mix] (1993) (B) Living On My Own [Julian Raymond Album Mix] Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods – The Singles will also be available on 2CD with a 20-page booklet and as a digital album. TALON'S TAKE? Nothing really new here to be honest so that dulls the excitement a bit...though after the massive Freddie solo box from 2000 I really think there's much left to be heard...the only "new" things I know not to be released is Freddie's last live performance at the musical Time (which is owned by Dave Clark so QP can't do much), and a demo of Freddie singing Phantom of the Opera tracks with Monterrat Caballe (which she has in her property - and honestly that's actually never truly been confirmed). That being said this is a NICELY put together set so if you don't have this stuff, it may be worth a go for at least the CDs. The next post is the other release and something I'm tentatively very excited about.......

This second product for 2016 has not yet been announced....but is coming if everything is to be believed...The product is called Queen On Air. It was first mentioned by Greg Brooks and then later confirmed as a project being worked on by Brian in the Fan Club Magazine where he said they were working on the early recordings the band did at the BBC.
SO it has now been "confirmed" (as best as possible) that the band were finally going to collect and release the full BBC recordings the band did over the years:
SESSION 1 Recorded: 5 February 1973 Studio: Langham 1 Studio Broadcast: 15 February 1973, Sounds Of The Seventies
My Fairy King Keep Yourself Alive Doing All Right Liar
SESSION 2 Recorded: 25 July 1973 Studio: Langham 1 Studio Broadcast: 13 August 1973, Sounds Of The Seventies (first three tracks only) Rebroadcast: 24 September 1973, Sounds Of The Seventies (all four tracks)
See What A Fool I've Been Liar Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive
SESSION 3 Recorded: 3 December 1973 Studio: Langham 1 Studio Broadcast: 6 December 1973, Sounds Of The Seventies
Ogre Battle (edit) Great King Rat Modern Times Rock'n'Roll Son And Daughter
SESSION 4 Recorded: 3 April 1974 Studio: Langham 1 Studio Broadcast: 15 April 1974, Sounds Of The Seventies
Nevermore Modern Times Rock'n'Roll White Queen (As It Began) The March Of The Black Queen
SESSION 5 Recorded: 16 October 1974 Studio: Maida Vale 4 Studio Broadcast: 4 November 1974, Sounds Of The Seventies
Flick Of The Wrist Tenement Funster Now I'm Here Stone Cold Crazy
SESSION 6 Recorded: 28 October 1977 Studio: Maida Vale 4 Studio Broadcast: 14 November 1977, Sounds Of The Seventies Spread Your Wings It's Late / Get Down, Make Love (interlude) / It's Late (reprise) My Melancholy Blues We Will Rock You (slow) / spoken word segment / We Will Rock You (fast)
--------- NOW this has been a LONG TIME in coming. These have been heavily bootlegged and it decent quantity, BUT an official release is always better than a bootleg.
Now, there was a Queen at the Beeb released in 1989 and then again re-released in 1995 as Queen At the BBC which had official releases of SESSION 1 and SESSION 6. Except for Ogre Battle which was an edited version because the INTRO part of Ogre Battle was "lost" and "damaged" to the point where it was unreleasable. Whether this has been corrected or not I have no idea. NOW a few other of the tracks were then released in 2011 during the Queen catalogue remasters:
See What A Fool I've Been was re-released with a very nice 2011 remix which gives me excitement if used as a template Flick of the Wrist and Tenement Funster from SESSION 5 Spread Your Wings and My Melancholy Blues from SESSION 6
NOW at this point we move on to speculation a bit. I always kind of pessimistically assumed that if it was released it would simply be the 6 sessions. But as it was called a box at one point there was hope for more. The most widely though inclusion would be (another heavily bootlegged in decent condition) a gig they did at the Golders Green that was broadcast on the BBC in 1973.
IN CONCERT Recorded: 13 September 1973 Venue: Golders Green Hippodrome Broadcast: 13 September 1973, In Concert Procession Father To Son Son And Daughter See What A Fool I've Been Ogre Battle Liar Jailhouse Rock Stupid Cupid Be Bop A Lula Big Spender Bama Lama Bama Loo
NOW they also performed a few other tracks that were not broadcast (Keep Yourself Alive, Stone Cold Crazy, and Hangman).
THIS would make the most sense but given the On Air title, maybe they wouldn't give us the bonus tracks....in fact I'm STILL quite pessimistic on that....but OH to have ANY official version of Hangman! There is *rumor* of an official studio acetate of the track existing but it has been denied to exist by QP. The person stating they own it *IS* a source I would tend to believe though so who knows....BUT a live version would still work for me.
Now that was the limit of my hopes....but there may be more. There was a leak of info recently from a source *I* can't vouch for but a few people have.....someone who reportedly had the right predictions regarding A Night at the Odeon AND the as posted above Freddie release. They have stated that there will be 3 versions of this release:
A 2 CD version with the six sessions spread across both. A 3 LP version with each session on one side of an LP
WHICH is all I really thought.....BUT they also say there will be a
6 CD version which would be the 2 CDs of Sessions, the Golders Green Concert (no mention of any possible bonus tracks) 2 CDs of various interviews (the most obvious ones would be a 1977 BBC interview with Tom Browne and a 1989 BBC interview with Mike Read (a really good one this one). BUT there was no confirmation on the interviews.
FINALLY the last CD was stated as being: unreleased or very unknown material (but not confirmed yet). IF this is true....then I don't know what else would be on it - and that makes me doubt what this would be. Given that it is ON Air and not just BBC...perhaps the few Tops of the Pops sessions, perhaps some other unknown recordings, perhaps the live for the fan club gig that happened after the video shoot for We Are The Champions. We'll have to see!
I keep hoping it will be true but I wait for the Sept. announcement....
