I was looking forward to every little scrap of news from Shanghai, and was beyond thrilled to get all the pics and tweets. TBH, Adam in China was more exciting for me than all the hype re. BTIKM.

I think there really is a cultural difference at play here, and from what I understand there is a distinct Asian fan culture, and the way Adam was treated is quite typical, like it or not.
I've deleted some posts that don't comply with Atop guidelines.

I try to leave most of Adam's private life private -- except when he or his family or Sauli share it. That's my line. I am mostly interested in the professional side of his life.
Setting that aside, most of the info from Shanghai was pretty similar to what has been tweeted/posted from other countries. Adam fans seem to be about the same all over the world.
ETA: NoAngel -- hope the move is going OK.

I twittered glam_alidol already and thanked her graciously (as graciously as I know how) for sending all her tweets and pictures and news of Adam. I thought it was a nice thank you tweet that I twittered. I remember Adam kicking a security guy at one of his concerts for trying to stop someone from using their camera to take his picture. Adam has really been tolerant and good with his fans and lets them know when they have gone too far. He does put up with a lot of nosiness from us, but I don't think what we do is stalk. We are just nosy because we love him.
What we do is analyze everything and make up theories about the what, why, and wherefor of everything that happens in this fandom regarding Adam. I suppose we could find something else to do, but I have been attached to my computer for three years. I would be lost without ATOP and Adam news.

Let's not waste a lot of effort on a pop-in non-member. When someone posts complaints like that -- then goes away, it is pretty much a "whatever". I try to leave most of Adam's private life private -- except when he or his family or Sauli share it. That's my line. I am mostly interested in the professional side of his life. Would like to agree with you, Q3, but can't entirely. Don't consider myself anywhere near a stalker and won't even carry a camera, but I still plan to stake out a table at an outdoor cafe in WeHo next April when in LA - JUST IN CASE.
Y'all have two options: Either beg me to take a camera or tell me I'm a bad, bad boy and should have my priorities reviewed.
Anything done legitimately, no stolen Facebook pics, etc, I will partake of and enjoy, and if I lived in LA I would use all my contacts to score tickets to Adam appearances.
Bottom line, we each set our own boundaries and as long as they don't #Trespass on someone else's, so what.

I believe the Adam sightings were from many sources. There were a few diligent fans that collected and translated the many reports. The fans that tweeted the sightings in English were not following Adam everywhere he went. I don't think they were even in Shanghai.
If I have this wrong, please correct me.

I agree with Whimsey on this. The Chinese fans did nothing that we don't do everyday, and some of what they did was in response to fans asking them questions. We haven't shown them much gratitude and I hope they don't hear all the bitching that has been going on on twitter and other places. ITA *thumbs up* Please don't go whimsey. I can remember feeling the same way when Adam did his Auckland concert here and on a certain other board the bitching about how they 'hated' Kiwis for not providing a live stream for them #entitledmuch I can remember being really hurt by that, as I knew that beautiful fans like eri9 had gone above and beyond and completely out of their way to try and make it happen and to say thank you to the international fandom for all they had done for us by way of streams and YT's. Unfortunately, due to technology glitches it didn't happen, but the will to give back to the fandom was there - and in return we got criticism. That concert had 5,000 people. It was NZ's ONE and only concert. Of those 5,000 people, there were 4,997 people that had never, ever been given the chance to see Adam live. Only 3 of us had; eri9, tracey and myself and probably only 40 peeps, tops, at that stage were active on fan boards and knew about the 'needs' of the fandom. We often talk about how the gay community 'eats their own', but I sometimes feel that this fandom is guilty of the same thing. Pot calling the kettle black n'all. But as always, JMVHO Yes, there are limits, but I don't think the Chinese fans have done anything that I haven't seen US fans do time and time again. YMMV.
