Looks like a slow news day!! I have had misgivings about this new era and I found page 4 of yesterday's thread very interesting. The clip from CapitalOfficial is the Adam I love -- warm, intelligent, articulate, etc. He talks about words and the importance of intent. Scroll down a bit and the word I dislike is described in someone's message as "often used in LGBTQ+ and drag culture, signifies a fierce, confident, and unapologetically bold attitude." Okay, I think to myself. But couldn't that group had found a different word to describe that! Whatever ...
However, I won't be buying this EP just because I don't want those song titles on my playlist! My mother's voice is in my head ... "Don't be vulgar" and she was not a prude by any means. But that doesn't mean I won't keep following Adam. I found him endlessly entertaining on American Idol and after and he is still giving my world a bit of a shake!

Like you, I find him endlessly entertaining...and I live for those little surprises we get all the time, things we didn't know anything about.

But that doesn't mean I won't keep following Adam. I found him endlessly entertaining on American Idol and after and he is still giving my world a bit of a shake! This is my experience with "offensive" words.. I was once confronted with a person close to me using a word that was offensive to me and generally considered a slur. I had a visceral reaction to the word fueled by years of conditioning to words like that along with the general population, then had to grapple with the feelings of intense discomfort that it left in my body. I eventually came to the realization that, when I thought about it, it was only a word, just a combination of letters, and the only reason it had so much power over me was because I gave it that power, and much of that was due to societal conditioning. Now that word doesn't have that power and no longer triggers me.. it just became another word that some people used as a derogatory term.. but that is now their problem and not mine. If you still want to support Adam, but not have the song titles show up.. another option would be to buy it to support him, then delete the songs from your playlist.
