Any longtime Glambert will know how extraordinary, really unprecedented, it is for Adam to get worked up enough to express himself so publicly and passionately. I think that his doing so now shows how deeply personal the issue is for him. It goes way beyond being political for him. This hits him “where he lives”, and quite possibly for reasons we know little about. I happen to agree with him and think such things should matter to everyone, but even if I didn’t, I hope I would be able to appreciate that this is coming from his soul. A soul we know to be beautiful.

It’s a tough time to find “the glittery.” I will say, if I can, that I love to see Adam’s friend and brother sticking up so vociferously for his right to express himself. This is world-wide, this is history. It’s big. I do not expect or want Adam to take himself to the streets - I wish no one had to - but there are many ways to express and support a movement against racism and police brutality and Adam is doing plenty. Adam is no hypocrite. I don't follow Terrance or his boyfriend but I was wondering what Terrance and his boyfriend are saying in support of Adam. I think I missed it.

We can't make an assumption about anyone's knowledge of a subject based on tweets in the heat of the moment. Even when we make comments, we are unlikely to follow up with our full knowledge of a subject, especially about insurance of all things. He was responding to a comment made to him.
I think Adam's heart is in the right place. He is not dumb or uninformed, nor a hypocrite. I don't agree with everything but I do agree that some things are unjust and unequal. We can nitpick everything he says to find fault. Or we can choose to support him or not. Agree with him or not. I am happy to see Adam stands for something worth standing up for. He has my full support, respect and admiration.

Well, it has been an interesting forum these last few days! It is eye-opening. Adam has lost about 1500 Instagram followers in the last couple of days. I am proud of him for taking a stand.
I guess some people would say I am "white passing" though I think of myself as white. I know that my father and aunt faced discrimination. I can't say I ever have except for this one story. My family was returning from our cabin on a small boat during rough weather. We were dropped off at a public dock, put our stuff in the car, and then walked to the nearby ferry terminal to use their washrooms to change. We were cold and wet in old clothes and had our dry clothes in black plastic bags. I remember trudging by a group of ferry workers who stared at us as we walked by. I don't know what they were thinking, of course, but I got a very different vibe from them. I thought to myself, oh this is what it feels like to be an other! This is what is feels like to be judged by appearance only. I actually felt vindicated walking past them again looking like our normal selves. It was just a tiny taste and maybe it was all in my mind, but it was definitely an interesting experience!

In keeping the discussion just on Adam and his words....he has said he opposes the rioting and looting, etc, but then adds "dont they have insurance" which means IMO that part isn't of much concern to him. Being a small bus owner and the daughter of parents who were small bus owners...insurance doesn't cover everything and in this case many of these inner city businesses are black owned and serve their community and I bet are under insured, etc. Another thing that kinda annoys me is he keeps calling fans and posters ignorant which tends to remind the deplorables of the progressive elite culture. Having said that....I still love him and understand his frustration. I also think he must be frustrated over Covid and how that messed with his promo and concert dates for him and QAL. and almost a year's income. I'm glad he said his rant was therapeutic. I don't think Adam is not concerned about the small businesses ... he was just responding to someone who thought his donations should have gone to small businesses ... he is putting his donations toward individuals whose costs are not covered by insurance, he doesn't want to duplicate what insurance is already covering. I don't think that choice conveys in any way a lack of concern.
