Of topic but I'll share a piece of personal information: My emergency heart-surgery was 10 years ago yesterday. I can't believe how it changed the course of my life. What has happened since then. I finished my apprenticeship, finished college, went to universitiy and now I'm hopefully entering a new chapter in my life, where I can shape my life more rather than reacting to outside circumstances. On Tuesday I was invited to a jobinterview and got a positive feedback right that evening. It's only for half a year but right now that is a very good start for someone beginning their career. The institution is good, it's an official governmental place, the "Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft", basically the ministry of agriculture. It's "only" 60% so part-time, which works fine for me so I can really focus on that, learn, take full advantage of the experience and have time for private issues and things that I'm passionate about. I start next month.
And to keep this place golden, I would like to congratulate one of our younger members on her new job opportunity. Good luck!

vankimber and lurleene, Nicely said. We know Adam well enough by now to realize that he is naturally kind and positive in his outlook on many things. He is not mean-spirited in general. But these events hit him where it hurts in regard to his close friends and the cultures he weaves through in his life. lurleene, you are right. We can nitpick his comments and examine every word literally, or take them, as I do, as a general expression of outrage and frustration. Millions are doing exactly the same thing right now. He doesn't have to BE THERE in person in order to empathize and feel the hurt.
And I also agree that he is rightfully upset with his professional setbacks this year: lost gigs, lost promo, lost tours. Ultimately, lost income. He is a wealthy man, but he has expenses like everyone else. All this can tend to put a person on edge.
happy, I am so glad you posted your story. It personalizes what a lot of this protest is all about: preconceptions of a person's worth because of their skin color.
I am an Adam fan because he sings like an angel and has shown me he is a quality person.

It seems to be just another way for some (not you) to dismiss Adam's concerns and undermine his credibility cause they don't agree with him. It is not about Black Live Matter and inequality but he is more upset about his income. Really his concerns are being reduced to his own pocketbook? The other reason not to agree with him weren't working so well so let us pretend he is really all about something else. Everyone in the world is upset about the virus and the sh**ty response from our so called leader. But I have not doubt that Adam's finances are just fine and his income will come back again, like all the celebrities who are fortunate enough to have big bank accounts to whether the storm. Adam has made it clear why he is taking a stand. No need for others to try to change what he is standing up for to fit their own agenda and lack of caring.

IDT anybody is saying he's more upset by his career losses...but that fact has to be weighing on his frustrations as well. At least it would be on me.

I agree that it might be some concern for him but I have a feeling this is a bigger issue for him than making more money. I wish more people in this country wouldn’t be so willing to allow the comfort of making more money to override the injustices that are happening. But that’s just me.

I have posted more in the last five days than I have in the last three months and I know it is because I have been able to express my anguish and sadness over the state of my country and the world. My fallback position has always been to find humor and joy in everyday life but since mid-March, when our leadership's incompetent response to the pandemic began to take its toll, I have found it extremely difficult to find light and humor in the common world around me. Don't get me wrong, I am not depressed, but there came a point when seemingly frivolous pursuits, including Adam, just didn't have a place in my life. I have reserved my limited supply of joy for things I can touch, my family and my home.
I am inspired by the protests and can feel trickles of hope returning to my heart. I fervently hope for real progress and a return to the desire to find common ground for the difficult problems facing our country. This will not happen as long as HeWhoCannot amed, the master of ugly mean-spiritedness and divisiveness, is in office and in control of the Republican party.
So, I will nurture my hope seedling and vote in November. Hopefully we will elect true statespersons and thinkers on both sides of the aisle.
Wishing everyone here love and joy in the months to come.
Logging out but still checking in.

lurleene, You and I agree on so many things, and I think we still do. I didn't mean to imply that Adam is crying crocodile tears into his pricey wine glass because he isn't making his usual megabucks this year. He'll weather this storm just fine. I guess I just meant that his career setback, due to circumstances beyond his control, may be just another part of his current mindset. Frustration, anger, impatience, and all that. I know some people will say, "Those rich people shouldn't complain about anything. They've got tons of money." Of course, I disagree, and no one should take Adam's opinions less seriously simply because he's wealthy. Like you, I think Adam is sincere to the core, and he tries his best to be accurate with his comments amidst all the chaos. Some may not like the way he says it, but his heart is always in the right place.

The pushing comment was mine. He sounded irritated at first that I used a soft word like 'push' but then agreed that the police looked like they were enjoying battering on protesters, which was my point. He also liked an earlier comment of mine. This all went down about 4 am my time probably 3 am his time. Usually, I am commenting about his music so this was definitely a heavier conversation. Twitter is a place where opinions can get quite heated and I think Adam feels comfortable expressing himself through that medium. Well, actually he has never had an issue with expressing himself. Good or bad which is what I love about him. It has gotten him in hot water before over more trivial things, remember the backlash when he said that Russell Crowe shouldn't be singing in Le Miserable. He never gets boring that's for sure.
